happy grumpy Posted November 23, 2023 Posted November 23, 2023 My feeble attempt to convert the re issued D100 pick up to a military service truck. Inspired by a photo on the internet, I tried to reproduce the look of it's military counterpart. The 4x4 conversion parts came from different parts from the junkyard box. The service box is scratch built from reference photos from the web. The wheels are standard steelies modified to fit the larger generic 1/24 scale monogram tires found in so many of their kits. In all , I am somewhat satisfied but I might change the wheels for more accurate resin replacement if I can find them. I am working on a similar project, a military Chevy ambulance. Thanks for looking. 2
espo Posted November 23, 2023 Posted November 23, 2023 Great looking camo paint work and the utility bed look perfect. 1
Zippi Posted November 24, 2023 Posted November 24, 2023 Nice looking Mario. That scratch built service box looks the part man. Nicely done. 1
ncbuckeye67 Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 That's pretty cool! I love all the scratch building. 1
WillyBilly Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 That looks great. Having owned 2 1:1 M1009 Chevy Blazer CUCVs, I have to say your model looks so real. I had to do a double take on the first pic after the real one to see I was looking at your creation, and not another pic of the real one. 1
happy grumpy Posted November 30, 2023 Author Posted November 30, 2023 Thanks Bill, I am currently working on a Chevy M1010 ambulance, I use the monogram Chevy 78 as a base. I think they used later model year for this but this the only kit I had for this. Will post it eventually.
Chirps Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Outstanding work! Doing the exact same thing right now but using the standard 8' bed. The lack of the 4x4 components made it bit of an interesting challenge and gave me good reason to raid the parts bin and do some scratch building. 1
Chuckyg1 Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Some what satisfied! I think you did a great job. Nice scratched box. Cammo Paint looks good. 1
