Can-Con Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 Depends, was it ever in any classified government areas for an extended period of time? ? 4
espo Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay you for it. Put up on E-Bay and start it at $100.00 and see what happens. 1
Little Timmy Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 (edited) Also depends on what they may have "learned" along the way. Some of them ( ones that have been used a bit) can carry on conversations. I bought my daughter 3 of them when they were just released, and when there all placed next to each other they teach each other what they learned during their day. She sold one 5 years ago for $600.00 . And, yes, the Pentagon banned them from the building because they were a B I G threat to national security. Edited November 28, 2023 by Little Timmy Typo 1

Rodent Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 I don't recall why, but I bought one for my Dad and Mom. I believe that my Dad thought they were interesting, but the real answer is lost to history. He (they?) lived on the coffee table and was frequently chatty since he was within earshot of the TV. After Mom died, Dad enjoyed talking with him. Furby would sit silently on the table but would suddenly wake up and talk when you least expected it. After Dad died (Furby must have witnessed it) I brought Furby to my home. He never said anything again, even with new batteries. It seems like he died with my Dad. Too weird to comprehend. 1
NYLIBUD Posted November 30, 2023 Author Posted November 30, 2023 That is odd Rodent.Sorry you lost both your parents.
doorsovdoon Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 I remember these things being a big fad. My eldest son had a couple of them, I hated them! When he was older I threw it out in the trash and it must have got wet, started making this screaming sound in the bag, it wouldn't shut up all night, lol. 1 1
peteski Posted December 2, 2023 Posted December 2, 2023 We had few of them back when they were popular. They communicate with each-other through IR communication (like a TV remote control), so they can have conversion and learn things. There was even an app for PalmPilot (remember those personal assistants before smart phones took over?) which allowed you to control and communicate with the Furbies. We still have couple stashed away (for when they become prized collectibles). Then the same company came out with a Shelby - similar toy but it looked like an oyster. It was slightly more advanced, and they also communicated using IR, but the silly thing was that the communication protocol was not compatible with Furby! Go figure.
bobss396 Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 Looks like my stepmother, but 1/2 as ugly... 1
