Robberbaron Posted September 20, 2024 Posted September 20, 2024 I really wouldn't get my hopes up for a Blazer version from Moebius, at least for the foreseeable future. First priority needs to be shortbed Fleetside versions, to match the hottest 1:1 interest. Between all the 67-72 model year changes, short bed/long bed, 2WD/4WD, Stepside/Fleetside, small block/big block, they have years of variations they can do. Easily as much as the bumpside Fords. I would also be very surprised if they are not factoring in GMC variations as well.

Luckily with how they are making their Ford kits relatively compatible with each other, it shouldn't take much to make the different variants once they have the initial bodies made.

If Moebius was smart, they would look at how Revell is tooling the Stranger Things 85 Blazer for tips on how to offer variations without having to retool the whole kit. It looks like Revell is going to have a multi piece chassis with separate frame rails so all they have to do is a body, interior pan and frame to take a Blazer to make a pickup or Suburban. I know that if they focus on the 67-72 GM truck year range, they could literally print money from the kit sales. I am sure they have done well with the Fords and the GMs would be even more popular. 1
leafsprings Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 The AMT Blazer and GMC Jimmy's star feature was a complete separate frame. This would also be the star feature of a new Moebius Chevy pickup with coil springs on all fours for 2WD and leaf springs on all fours for 4WD versions.

Moebius is smart, they are concentrating on getting one thing right first. Plus they do not have the budget to be doing multi tool mods like Revell.
89AKurt Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 I'm going to follow this topic! All I will say, they better not think re-popping the horridly inaccurate AMT kit is going to separate me from my $. It better have accurate taillights, for the best example. Separate door handles would show they care about details. There are side trim differences between trim levels specific to years. The hood changed after '68. Of course full chassis detail not a promo style kit. If they really want to make it expensive, have SB and LB versions. I built The Green Barge some time ago, takes a bunch of work to make accurate. Send me first shots to shred it for evaluation. 4

This is, by far, my favorite pickup of all time and I'm in for pretty much any variation that I will be able to get my hands on. 1
