I'm with you, Pierre - after the GTO and the Lancia turbo which gave me more headaches than expected, I need a simple one in between. 1
kensar Posted April 5, 2024 Posted April 5, 2024 Great looking weathering, Pierre. I have the 1/12 Tamiya Porsche 934 to build one day. 1
Pierre Rivard Posted April 7, 2024 Author Posted April 7, 2024 Jason Hupin (Jack Modelling) has just printed these for me. I should receive them in about 7-10 days. Last piece of the puzzle! 3
MarkJ Posted April 7, 2024 Posted April 7, 2024 Wow, what an awesome job he did. They look like the real thing in 1:1.
Straightliner59 Posted April 8, 2024 Posted April 8, 2024 The wheels look great! They need to, in order to match your fantastic work, Pierre. Excellent job on the weathering! 1
1959scudetto Posted April 8, 2024 Posted April 8, 2024 Jason did it again - these will be the icing on the cake of your model, Pierre! I will order also several sets of these.
MarkJ Posted April 16, 2024 Posted April 16, 2024 Pierre, everything okay? Waiting patiently for more on this one. Well not so patiently, I guess.
Randy D Posted April 16, 2024 Posted April 16, 2024 Hello Pierre, Your progress looks awesome my friend!!!! Had no idea that this car had the "in board" drum brakes at front and rear!!!! The wheels look great, Jason said he would get to work on my order when he returns from vacation. Randy

As soon as my wheels arrive I'll paint/weather a set and post here. I think they should be a good candidate for your Maserati.
Allan31 Posted April 17, 2024 Posted April 17, 2024 Can't wait to see this finished, those wire wheels are amazing.

My bad, I thought you had the wheels when you posted what they looked like. Must be coming on an old steamship that barely floats.
Pierre Rivard Posted April 18, 2024 Author Posted April 18, 2024 Wheels are here! painted Vallejo flat aluminium, mounted on tires (from the spares box) and weathered to have "end of race" look Calling this one done! 4
1959scudetto Posted April 18, 2024 Posted April 18, 2024 (edited) Well done Pierre - I'm glad that I took a last look into the forum before going to sleep. This one has the definitive "end-of-race" look without being battered or damaged - the wheels turned out fantastic - did you use the kit tires (or are these amt Firestones with rubbed off side lettering) ? IIRC, Mercedes used Continental rubber back then. Edited April 18, 2024 by 1959scudetto
MarkJ Posted April 18, 2024 Posted April 18, 2024 Looks amazing, Pierre. The wheels are the icing on the cake. Let us know when final presentation is ready to be viewed in the under-glass section.
Gramps46 Posted April 19, 2024 Posted April 19, 2024 Very authentic looking in appearance. Now just dab a few drops of oil underneath and you will have the smell too for a truly accurate experience.
Straightliner59 Posted April 19, 2024 Posted April 19, 2024 What a beauty, Pierre! The wheels just complete it. Everything looks just right--weathering--all of it. Excellent work, my friend!

IIRC, Mercedes used Continental rubber back then. The kit tires (Dunlop Racing) are very nice but a bit too big in my opinion. Saving them for another project and used Firestones with lettering rubbed off just as you said. 17 hours ago, MarkJ said: Looks amazing, Pierre. The wheels are the icing on the cake. Not quite but this old brush painter is happy with the results. 13 hours ago, Gramps46 said: Very authentic looking in appearance. I cannot take credit for the wheels other than providing lots of pictures and sketches to Jason who designed and printed them for me. They make a huge difference and add so much realism. 1
