ewetwo Posted January 17, 2024 Posted January 17, 2024 Finished this today. AMT Prestige 1963 Studebaker Avanti. I’ve had this kit for around 15 years. The box was well mangled when I bought it. The main frame piece was wrapped pretty bad. I tried to work with it but it got the best of me. Why the hood doesn’t fit flat. Engine sits a bit high. But it’s done. 11
Yeah Nah Posted January 17, 2024 Posted January 17, 2024 Nice! That engine sitting a bit high is a problem with the newer issues too. I found out when I did a 64 version one not all that long ago. From memory I had to shave off a bit of the base of the carb.
Chris in Berwyn Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 Very nice! And nice paint choice! I have a few in inventory and should actually build one!!
rrb124@sbcglobal.net Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 Rare to see. Good looking model.
ncbuckeye67 Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 That's pretty sweet! I like your color choice.
ewetwo Posted January 18, 2024 Author Posted January 18, 2024 Thank you Garry, Tom, Steve, Lee, David, and Chris.

Mine seems to be the AC compressor holding the hood up as the front of the hood stays up. I did shave some of it off. But maybe I'll try the carburetor. I have another older release and the newest one. But don't know if I'll ever build them. 1
espo Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 Great looking paint and the interior contrast looks good. Nice engine detailing.
slusher Posted January 19, 2024 Posted January 19, 2024 Looks great David, I have not seen many built..
happy grumpy Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 Beautiful job, great color and it looks really nice with that background.
Mopar2 Posted January 23, 2024 Posted January 23, 2024 I always thought this was a cool car...And you did a beautiful job building her...
W Humble Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 I built the original issue Monogram Avanti kitin the 'eighties with a phantom BBC (well, they had Chevy engines in the last gasp, after all!) but have never displayed it because of fit issues, doors, windows, etc. It isn't even in the same race with this nice iteration! It's engine went to an AMT '53 kit. I also used some Ditzler acrylic enamel clear that yellowed, and un-evenly! Fooey! Wick
David G. Posted January 27, 2024 Posted January 27, 2024 It came out good in spite of the troubles it gave you. David G.
