The 49 Mercury Thread (Because if you haven't built one yet, you should!)

Finally finished my ‘49 Revell Merc today, only deviation from box stock was the addition of a Mercury FE V8. I’ll echo a lot of the past statements, this is a great kit to build.

@Belugawrx You have a really good eye for design, those fenders with the tail lights really give it the visual zoom!

I haven't followed these community topic but run into link so I decided to share my two build of AMT Merc. Pink one is build at the age of 16 in the mid 90s. My first top chop and back then I didn't realize that sanding out all the trim around the windows is not a good idea. Paint is own mixture of hardware store universal paint. Engine is 392 Hemi from the 53 Stude kit. I wonder few prizes with this one.

The other one is a glue bomb restoration from my friend's terrible build that I finished this autumn. Very traditional style and it is built pretty much in a style I would build a 1:1 Merc. More about it is in the topic here in under glass section.

It must be a good feeling to still have the one from your youth.
