There's no way that would be legal here.

,,and from what I know about those GM mid-size cars of that generation, I'd bet the frame is rusted through right where it kicks up in front of the rear axel.

No way that thing is safe to drive on the street.

Wow. I think the only thing making sure that car doesn't fold is that it's a hardtop. If it was a convertible this is probably what would happen.e6334bc38e1ba43ac92fde58616f2474.jpg.99979de62ba030cb1dc6b33286fe94a0.jpg

Haha I know this car..saw it posted all the time on the Chicago petrol heads and car spotters page on Facebook.  Car was at the muscle car and corvette nationals in the fall I believe.

I lived in Chicago for 50 years. The road salt just ate up cars. A lot of cars were prone to rust right out of the factory. One of the solutions was to take your car to Ziebart, or trade it in every 3 years for a new car.

In 1981, I graduated college. A buddy and I moved into an apartment in what most people would charitably call the “wrong” side of town. Nothing but on street parking. He had a 1974 Cutlass. Ya couldn’t put anything in the trunk because the floor was half gone along with the bottom of the quarters. Anyway, my roomy hung a big Mr. T air freshener from the interior rear view mirror. None of the brothers ever messed with it!

Nothing a little bit of screen wire and bondo can't fix; maybe a roll or two of duct tape.

On my 1976 Cutlass I used spray foam and news paper on the lower rear quarters where it meets the trunk pan. Worked great for the 3 years I drove it. No more wet trunk.
