This one's a hybrid. The body, chrome, interior, windshield and top are from the Jo-Han kit. Engine, engine compartment, chassis, wheels and tires are from the AMT Chrysler 300C. The only thing I would change if I were to do it again would be to take the mounts for the rear suspension off the frame and move them about 1/8" forward.

That looks amazing.  I wish i could find one.  I like these cars as convertibles, but never cared much for the hard tops.

I lucked into this one on eBay some time ago. It was glue bombed and since it had been left unpainted, the plastic was beginning to crumble. The top of the windshield frame and cowl both broke while working on it.

Very nice looking Chrysler. That big Hemi should get it hastily down the turnpike. I like seeing these old kits built (or rescued, as the case may be).

That is quite an upgrade. Excellent work. Modern kits offer a lot of possibilities for these old Jo-Han kits. They may be lacking in details but their bodies were spot on. I like the underside treatment. The exhaust pipes are very realistic.

Great looking convertible, makes the interior easier to see just how nice it is. Nicely detailed engine and chassis.

Very well done build. I like the colors you chose for the body and interior, and that beautiful Hemi tops it all off. I like the mild weathering on the chassis, very nicely done.

Nice work Brian.

Yes, the rear suspension could have been moved forward, but it might not be too late.

If you could pop the rear axle and springs off without doing any major damage, you could just trim some material from the leading portion of the springs and move the whole thing forward a bit.

Just a couple of notes, and not to be an a-hole, but the '62 Chrysler was a uni-body car, and not a full frame construction as is the '57.

With that in mind, any of the later Mopar uni-body chassis from the 60s would have been more accurate, and would have very possibly gotten you closer to the correct wheel base.

Likewise, the Hemi was not available in '62, so any big block Mopar engine with the dual quad intake would have been more faithful to the '62.

In any case, it's a nice representation of a pretty rare kit.

Yeah, I kinda thought about the unibody part, too.  I might see about picking up another one and give it another go.  Mostly what made me go with the 57 Chrysler was the engine compartment.  It was the exact shape as the one for the 62.  I may pop her back apart and do some adjusting soon.  :)  Once I can get some Sublime green I can work with, I'll show off my Superbird.

Chalk it up to experience and move on, right?

This is part of the reason why I like to do extensive build threads with my projects.

I haven’t built a model in the past 10 years where I didn’t learn something that I wasn’t aware of, and in most cases, in time to correct it on this forum.

Build threads have proven to be an invaluable tool for me.

Great looking build and a good combination of parts. I've thought about using that chassis on several builds. Top marks on this one.
