Dennis Lacy Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 By the looks of the sky this morning I thought it might be too cold to clear coat today but the sun came out late morning I was able to get it done moments ago. Like the chassis, the base paint darkened nicely. This paint is a dead-ringer for Ford Titanium Frost optional on 90-92 Mustangs and others. I can’t wait to see this body polished and waxed. And yeah, I do all my spraying at the shop. Here’s the picture background NOT blurry or obstructed. ? 11
NerdmanB Posted October 29, 2024 Posted October 29, 2024 Dennis Lacy impressive paint job. You should give a tutorial for newbies like me. Also very jealous you get to work on 1/1 hot rods during the day. I started a third 32 sedan using orange crate body . Managed to break both hinge parts off same door. The pieces are lost to the floor. So I’m working on making new hinges. Won’t be done for a while but I continue to post as it goes. Cheers to all the other projects very talented people here. Brian 3

Brian "Managed to break both hinge parts off same door. The pieces are lost to the floor. So I’m working on making new hinges" Boy ain't that the truth....I did the same thing on the Revell Thames/Anglia Woody van conversion I worked on. I broke just about every door hinge on the body wrestling with that body shell during the build. I made a promise to myself to try and fabricate brass door hinges - but time ran out. As for those great early Revell kits like your Orange Crate, nice kits ......but all those tiny fiddly bits will try one's patience. I managed to complete three Big Daddy Roth show rods a couple of years ago but seriously doubt I could've completed even one back when they first came out. Subscribing to your build...love the 32 sedan! 1

Thanks, Steve! I had bought the spray can for a different project (one of Revell’s 90 Mustangs) a couple of years back but that project is going through a redirection (including a color change) so it was really a matter of, “What do I have on hand?” when it came to the sedan. That said, I’m really glad I went with it! 2

NerdmanB Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 Jim S. My chubby arthritic fingers don’t like the fiddly bits. lol. RRR glueing the doors shut is an option. But my brain says how hard can it be to make tiny door hinges? I guess we will find out I will post my progress. Brian 4

ON TO THE NEXT!!!! Very nice. Looks just right. The deadline was moved to November 13th, so you are right on time. When I saw the first pictures of your build, I thought you were building a car I’ve been trying to start for quite some time. But yours is very different. I love blown flathead in your model. It’s a great traditional hot rod. 1
Phildaupho Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 Absolutely love your Deuce Tom in everyway. 1
mrm Posted November 1, 2024 Author Posted November 1, 2024 I finally made some progress on mine. I have my hoods figured out, but they are still far from primer-ready. There is a lot more than meets the eye on this picture. The side hoods were painstakingly sanded to half their original thickness or less. I am planing a similar treatment for the top hood too. The frame received a new rear crossmember to accept the IRS and the quasymotor was fitted. Using the transmission from the Phantom Vicky definitely helped properly locating it in the frame. The body received the Vicky's wheelwells which not only positively locates it on the frame, but also determined the ride height with the help of an ever so slight channel over the frame. Now it has proper attitude, which I plan to dial up a notch. 3
