bluestringer Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 (edited) The first note from Duane Allman on Don't Keep Me Wondering live at A&R Studios. One note says it all. Some amazing playing from both Betts and Allman on this recording. I'm a big Allman Brothers fan, so anything by them is up there at the top for me. Stormy Monday on the Live at Fillmore recording has some top notch soloing from both Betts and Allman. Edited June 10, 2024 by bluestringer 2
NYLIBUD Posted June 10, 2024 Author Posted June 10, 2024 (edited) I know this is pretty old,but how about UFO,”Lights out”.(in London)And of course,Iron Maiden’s,”The Trooper.”Or practically anything else from Iron Maiden Edited June 10, 2024 by NYLIBUD 3
Mike C. Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 Alvin Lee was a truly underrated guitarist. I had to go back and watch that iconic live performance of I'm coming home from Woodstock. That ES looks like he is going to catch on fire at times. 1

For me Jeff Healy was also underrared, for a blind guy he was amazing. Also I think Kenny Wayne Shepard is underrated. A couple of my favorites today are Kingfish Ingram and Poppa Chubby, who you don't hear much about.

As local surfer kids, we lived for that movie to come on TV, maybe around 1967 or 1968 was the 1st time I saw it. I still watch it when I see it, the music was a key element to the enjoyment. 2

Bruce Brown also did a motorcycle movie with Steve McQueen. Same thing with that one. 1

Brian Austin Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 This song still kills me after all these years. (Solo by Guthrie Govan at around the 5:00 mark).
CaddyDaddy Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 Been really feeling the new Stones, “Angry”. Keef has often been overlooked in the pantheon of great rock guitarists, but I’ve always thought a lot of his stuff was simple and clean. 1
Bugatti Fan Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 (edited) Watch and listen to Mark Knoffler's fantastic guitar riffs in Calling Elvis on the Dire Straits Concerts Videos from the 90's on You Tube. Edited June 13, 2024 by Bugatti Fan

1972coronet Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 I love the dual guitar work of Robert Quine and Ivan Julian throughout Blank Generation - here's its title track : 1
Jim N Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 Comfortably Numb was already mentioned, but David Gilmore is also spectacular in Sorrow.
Big John Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 Any Zappa a true guitar master. Too many to count but notably Black Napkins (Live) on ‘Zoot Allures’ or Watermelon In Easter Hay from Joe's Garage. 1

bluestringer Posted June 15, 2024 Posted June 15, 2024 (edited) This guy has always impressed me. He does some unconventional stuff. Justin Johnson. Added percussion with rattlesnake rattles. Edited June 15, 2024 by bluestringer 1
