Len Woodruff Posted June 20, 2024 Posted June 20, 2024 I know we used to shrink the grid paper to make trunk mats. Is it available already done? Thanks in advance for your help.
peteski Posted June 20, 2024 Posted June 20, 2024 (edited) Not sure if it is available ready-made, but with most modelers owning a computer and a color printer, one could use even the most basic graphic program to draw a color grid to some specific dimensions, then print it out. Or find a photo of a real trunk liner, shrink it to desired size in that same program, and print it out. Edited June 20, 2024 by peteski 3
Straightliner59 Posted June 20, 2024 Posted June 20, 2024 Like Pete said--that's exactly how I would do it! I don't know how I survived as a modeler, before I finally figured out how to do my own graphics. I really feel like it's freed a different part of me, as a modeler. I do all my graphics with a cheap Canon inkjet printer. I highly recommend teaching yourself how to do them! My most recent ones have involved some hand-painting, gold leaf and two layers of decal film, but, I also print product labels and tags, too. 1
Len Woodruff Posted June 20, 2024 Author Posted June 20, 2024 Thanks for the hints. My wife found these grid sheets on-line to add to your ideas. On-Line grid sheets.
StevenGuthmiller Posted June 20, 2024 Posted June 20, 2024 Scale Motorsports makes a number of upholstery patterns that might work for you, depending on the affect that you want. Steve 2

Exotics_Builder Posted June 21, 2024 Posted June 21, 2024 They vary by manufacturer and sometimes model. The grid paper you showed would not likely fit a lot of cars. Some of the lines have houndstooth and some are vinyl. 1
Deathgoblin Posted June 21, 2024 Posted June 21, 2024 How about Washi tape? It's available in a lot of patterns and widths. They might have something close.

NOBLNG Posted June 21, 2024 Posted June 21, 2024 What particular car are you looking for? You might find a picture of the actual liner and downsize it? https://collectorsautosupply.com/carpet-mats/trunk-mats/ 2
