As a 60 year old guy i would personally like to see something new and updated, a Hellcat Challenger or Demon Challenger that would be epic. Darkhorse stang etc. We do have the new vettes so i can imagine they are seeing how that sells.

I'd forgotten about those new Vette's, Chuck. Thanks for reminding me about them.

I'm mostly interest in the prewar stuff.   I had no interest in modeling generic malaisewagens when I could get the kits for $2, and I have even less interest interest when they at close to $50.

I would not disagree.  My son and I have owned 2002-2004 Mustangs (Mach1, Cobra, GT and Saleens) and are there any models of them?  Not a one - just 1/18 diecasts.  Even 2005-2024 Mustangs kits are few and far between with a few snap or easy build ones.  I suppose there are some newer Camaro, Vette, Challenger, Charger kits etc but with 3D printing perhaps some will be available but not from larger companies.  Many of the older builder/collectors have so many kits that if kits were pulled from the shelves and none sold for the next five years not many would run out wishing they had something to build.  Who knows how many hundreds of thousands of kits are listed on auction sites but as to whether a 40 year old wants to see 80s and 90s kits “reissued” instead of perhaps something you might actually see on the road these days is a good point.  Obviously I’m a Ford person but as an example  where’s the 2021 Mach1 or the new Dark Horse kits or the GTD?  That’s just a few off the top of my head which I would think would appeal to either someone that owns a real one or the younger generation that might wish to own the real thing one day an could build a miniature one for now.  I go to a lot of cars shows and when someone starts up a GT40, 2005 Ford GT or 2018 Ford GT people of all ages seem to be drawn to them.  I guess my point is some cars are timeless and as the boomers get into their 70’s and 80’s perhaps the old kit supply will suddenly expand and prices will drop and that might entice some younger generations that like old cars to get involved in the hobby.  If I was in my early twenties I would probably build and “invest” in new Lego sets as they seem to increase in value a lot more than that 50-60 year old tooling reissued kit that’s on the shelf at the big box store that is not up to todays standards and will not go up in value as they always seen to be available.  Many say build what you like but with cars these days lacking uniqueness and it seems like 80% of the newer vehicles on the road are white, black gray or silver and interiors having even less choices I can understand the lack of enthusiasm as fewer all new kits are being made.

Now I'll grant you aside from the one Build n Play and the Tamiya GT4 there's been a Darth of new body style Mustangs. But you can't say there are "few and far between" from 2005. Revell made

'06 Mustang G5

'06 Mustang GT-H

'07 Shelby GT500

'08 Bullit

'09 Shelby GT500KR

'10 GT

'10 Shelby GT500

'13 Boss 302

'14 GT w/Coyote

That doesn't count the '10 Mustang GT Convertible as it falls under the easy SnapTite delineation. All of those Mustangs is probably why there isn't a current one, they flooded the market in a short time with a lot of kits (7 in a span of 4 years) that they probably eventually all sold poorly and there's nothing more a model company loves to use to justify not doing something (or to do something for that matter) and that's historical sales data.

But the newest one is at least 10 year old, why no one ever did a full build kit of 2015 -23 Mustang is beyond me and now with the 2024's, come on man.

Thanks for the reminder that Revell has stepped it up and the 1/12 2010 GT500 kit was probably not a great seller due to its size but I did buy one and most of the others on the list but have yet to build any.  Unless a kit is made of a new car when it comes out it seems like they just get passed over.  Of course Revell has already reissued some of the Mustangs in the list above as it has been 18 years since the 2005 Mustang came out.  I also applaud Revell for not trying to use the same mold year after year and just change the year on the box.  Some of the fox body Mustangs MPC and AMT would put out would just change a things but completely miss other differences.  Revell/Monogram took some shortcuts with the 69 Shelby and 69/70 Mach1 kit interiors but they have made many kits decades after the real cars were new instead of pouring out the 1 millionth (random guess) AMT 68 GT500 kit with zero improvement to the 55 year old kit.  Mustangs kit will always sell regards of the year as with over 10 million real ones sold it’s hard to go wrong with them.  Just look at how much a MPC Cobra II kit sells for on auction sites.?

I'll definitely be getting one of these! One of my favorite body styles. As for the other b/s about older models, I don't care. Keep cranking them out Round 2!

While I butchered mine back in the day, this Daytona remains a great kit. I hope it sells well.

Strong sales could inspire Round 2 to resurrect MPC's dusty EXP, Cavalier, and Fiero kits.

A couple years back, I redeemed myself somewhat by bashing an 88 Daytona with MPC's 69 Daytona. Front-mounted Hemi, shortened rear wheel drive chassis, tucked-in rear bumper, scratchbuilt wing, and several other tweaks.

Which reminds me, I have a mint Silver Bullet Omni 024, and this 440 ain't gonna stuff itself inside.

An opportunity to build an 'almost' replica of the '91 Shelby Daytona that used to be our car.

This is an ancient build of an old Monogram snap-tite kit that I thought was way better than the old MPC kit. I’d love to get another chance at a redo.

For a Snapper, you did a fantastic job! That looks great, especially in that Colour!

What about these guys from the Ford camp?

Fantastic collection, @Radretireddad! Really nice Charger, too.

I recently completed a mint MPC EXP (molded in blue). Such a thrill; nostalgia is the best drug. I originally butchered one of these a kid.

I've built many Taurus' over the years; another fine kit worthy of reissue.

And the Probe, wow. That one needs to come back, too! I rebuilt a gluebomb in the 90s as a pro street, and called it PROBE STREET, heh.

I guess it does not have the 87 turbo parts. I have both '87 and '88 kits, and the turbo parts are the only difference (if I remember correctly). Neither is labeled Shelby.

I see you sanded off the vents from the C-pillars, probably cuz the engraving isn't the best due to an odd choice of top to side cavity design by mpc back then. If Round-2 ever considers bringing this one back I'm hoping they design a decal to make it look a bit better.

Wow, you have eagle eyes for sure, @Luc Janssens! And right you are that the engraving in the C-pillar area was very faint, so I simply removed it rather than trying to replicate it properly. I also swapped out the kit's headlights for slightly better ones in the Silver Bullet Omni 024, and the flat black paint is kinda my thing as my eyes aren't as good as they used to be for fancy paintjobs and mega detailing! Yes, a C-pillar decal would be awesome; that's a great idea!

I liked and lost the Daytona kit back in the day and will be looking for another. As for new kits of newer cars, I'd like to see some SUVs and maybe even some of the newer pickups. They could maybe do it like Round2 has with the 88 Chevy trucks, and set it up as a curbside with the option of doing a full detail later if sales make it worthwhile.

Since AMT now has the Charger as a police package, how about an Explorer with a police version? Maybe a Subaru Forester and Outback as well?
