PatW Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 Finished today, I added the lamps from the kit and scrap plastic mud flaps. 7
PatW Posted August 6, 2024 Author Posted August 6, 2024 Thanks guys. I look back at life, and drove the first Quattro to land in the UK, having their press officer as a neighbour!
PatW Posted August 7, 2024 Author Posted August 7, 2024 Thanks Larry, nice kit goes together very well, but when decaling the numbers sometimes don't match up with the decal sheet!
TarheelRick Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 Beautiful rally car build. Still needs lots of mud and a few fender dents. Happened to watch a YouTube video yesterday of some rally crashes. Those cars fly and get extremely dirty. Just kidding about the mud and dents, like it just the way it is.
PatW Posted August 9, 2024 Author Posted August 9, 2024 Thanks guys. Yes I have built kits of rally cars with dirt on the body but particularly on and around the wheels and tyres. Having been a Rally marshal about 40 years ago there were some very fast Group 2 cars that flew on a regular basis. The World Rally Championships now have still cars that fly!
bisc63 Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 Very nice build of an iconic automobile. Well done.
Gramps46 Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 I am impressed with your build. Thanks for sharing it with us.
PatW Posted September 4, 2024 Author Posted September 4, 2024 Well thank you Gary, I enjoy people seeing my work, some are better than others!
1959 Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 Good looking build from an iconic rally car from the golden times of rallying! Been planing to build also some group B models but have been stuck on the 50's cars and hot rods. But as a huge fan of group B rallying I started to wonder if there is a mistake in the kit's title because to my understanding the S1 Sport Quattro is the one with large spoilers and wide fenders that was introduced as an evolution version in 1985. This one was introduced in 1984 and was just called Sport Quattro.
1959 Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 Replying to my self... I have always thought that S1 is the wide body version but it is actually called S1 E2. It is never too late to learn new. It had been almost 40 years when I saw the Evolution version in livenä tv program of the Rally Finland as a 8 years old kid. It was impressive!
PatW Posted October 14, 2024 Author Posted October 14, 2024 Hi 1959. There is one kit maker that does the evo version with the big arches and rear wing, very impressive. I hope to find one soon and build.
