Volzfan59 Posted July 17 Posted July 17 This evening another horse appeared in the backyard. This time my wife and I tried to find the owner to no avail. I lead him over to the field beside our house and closed the gate. Don’t know who owns the field or the horse but I didn’t feel right about just letting him roam free. Guess we’ll see what happens tomorrow. You’ll have to excuse the lack of landscaping. Part of my remodel was replacing the septic system and field lines. Waiting on it to cool down before breaking out the skid steer. Heat index was around 104 today. Not working outside in it. 5

I then discovered what I believed to be a rabbit carcass that looked to have been sitting for a week. Legs, foot, and rib bones plus some mangled fur. No head, no guts. Not 100% sure what it was or what killed it, but this was the first carcass I've found here. Wasn't sure if it was a rabbit because there hasn't been rabbit activity here since May 2023, but the foot with little claws may be the evidence of rabbit. I've got fox around that keep the rabbit population down. A rabbit actually will scream like a little baby when a fox grabs it ... quite eerie. My girlfriend has a little over a half acre. She found a very dead bloated possum out back a few weeks ago. 1

ksnow Posted July 17 Posted July 17 Been seeing whitetail fawns around quite a bit, finally saw a set of twins by the pond last night after the storms rolled through. Mom was standing guard as they were playing in the tall grass.

He was the sweetest horse, very tame. Fed him a couple of apples, my granddaughter and I loved on him before putting him up. We’ve got huge pastures in front and on one side and a smaller one behind us. They’ve been cutting and bailing hay as you can see in one of my pictures. For his safety I lead him through the open gate in the first picture. We’ve got three and an half acres. Our closest neighbor is my mother in law, she’s about two acres away. The other two are even further away. When I tell you it’s quite out here, you can hear a cricket fart from a mile away! It has done wonders for my PTSD, but that’s another story. Sorry for rambling. 2 1
89AKurt Posted Sunday at 04:56 AM Posted Sunday at 04:56 AM I'm always looking for special rocks, I toss the white quartz in one area, green in another, oh wait check out this green..... wow! Found along the edge of the driveway. It just died and was on the ground, could have been wasted by the weed eater if there was any rain. But because the humidity is so low, it's mummified. I should sell it on eBay. 🙄 2

Ace-Garageguy Posted Monday at 03:10 AM Posted Monday at 03:10 AM All I saw in the yard is grass that's going to need cutting next weekend if it rains the next few days. 1

Volzfan59 Posted Monday at 02:59 PM Posted Monday at 02:59 PM I’m fixing to see some new up lighting in the front yard as soon as I get off of my lazy butt and install it.

Yeah, the house was built in 1940, this property was originally part of the farm just down the road. The original farmhouse, which is basically right below me( I'm up on a hill) was built 1840's. I think the barn is 1900 or so Edited yesterday at 01:11 AM by johnyrotten More information 1

bobss396 Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago I did have a dead cicada yesterday in my pool. Took it out, put it on my deck table. Went inside to get my phone... came out and it was GONE... some bird had a nice breakfast.... 1
TonyK Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago I don't see them but the crickets this year are louder than I remember. Maybe more of them? Whatever the case, I enjoy hearing them at night.

rattle can man Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago Lots of weeds. Its amazing how they can grow so fast when my other plants can't survive without water every other day.
