mrmike Posted August 19, 2024 Posted August 19, 2024 (edited) My completed Scout II with a CB radio, white lettered tires, 5 slot custom wheels and a 345 CI V8 with an automatic transmission. The paint is Tamiya TS-43 Racing Green with a Tamiya TS-26 Pure White roof and a Tamiya TS-46 Light Sand interior. Edited August 19, 2024 by mrmike 7
Goose1957 Posted August 19, 2024 Posted August 19, 2024 That came out very nice. I really like the color combo. Great job. Jeff
Zippi Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 That turned out really nice Mike. Great looking build.
Hard_2_Handle_454 Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 Great job. Love the color. Been thinking about getting one for awhile. I may end up doing it.
XYHARRY Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 Nice Scout there Mike, I like your colour choices on this. Well done. Cheers, David. ??
ncbuckeye67 Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 Nice looking build! I have both versions of this kit but haven't opened either one. I didn't realize how basic they are under the hood (no detail at all!).
mrmike Posted August 21, 2024 Author Posted August 21, 2024 Thanks guys! One thing is for sure about any of the Scout II kits is the lack of detail. No brakes or booster, no wiper motor, no nothing! While the kit is stamped with a 2021 date code on the inside and AMT packaging, this kit goes back to the '70s-'80s as it is somewhat crude. I have an original ERTL International Offroad Scout SS II and it is basically the same as the Scout II kit with many of the same components and parts.
bogger44 Posted August 22, 2024 Posted August 22, 2024 Nice lookin' Scout Mike. It wears that green well. They sure are pretty simplified kits, but they are such a cool subject and never get tired of seeing them. Congrats!
mrmike Posted August 23, 2024 Author Posted August 23, 2024 Thank you Tony! Simplified - yes! Unusual subject - yes!
espo Posted August 23, 2024 Posted August 23, 2024 Great looking paint colors and finish along with the body trim. Like the interior details. These early designed kits make you appreciate the newer kits of today, but with clean assembly and detailing they can still show well.
mrmike Posted August 24, 2024 Author Posted August 24, 2024 Thank you David and Carl! These old kits have a way of making us appreciate them. I suppose I could have added other things like a master cylinder and a radiator, but that would have taken away from the original kit that I was trying to build. I did add plug wires which I thought added to the kit.
shoopdog Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 Great looking Scout sir! I too like your color choices. I’ve had this kit on my wish list for quite some time now.
mrmike Posted August 27, 2024 Author Posted August 27, 2024 Thank you Keith! If you want this kit, I would make an effort to secure one sooner than later.
