Hi!

About 8 years ago, I built my first salt car, Sodium Glider (see last pic below) out of an Altered state resin copy of the Cosmic Charger. It was the first membre of my imaginary FLAT EARTH SOCIETY.

Since then, I bluilt one salt car every year, exploring differint genres. Lately, I found a copy of the MPC Cosmic kit, and decided to go for a successor to that first car, but this time with the rear engine from an Indy car door prize won at a recent model show. So...

The Cosmic body was shortened, a front cone was made out of a Tamya's 1/12 sport bike tail section, monocoque construction filled the dragster body, and the Cosworth engine (heavily modified) was located at the rear. Scratchbuilt driver's cage, pedals, steering column, extinctor, electric system, lipstick tube canopy, Dollar store dishwasher bubble gizmo for the upper section of the fuselage, widened and enclosed rear wheelhouses, squared body side and flat underbelly, intake plenum, etc. Tamya's 206 WRC Peugeot rally wheels. Custom decals, Tamya's lacquers, Mr. Hobby Premium Top Coat clear, Molotow's & Revell's spray chrome accents.

Thanks to fellow modeler Muncie, well known on this forum, who provided me with the SCTA rule book. I like to think it would pass inspection!

Long live the Salt!

That is much cool!  Looks good, beautiful craftsmanship. Ready to go. Aim that thing at Floating Mountain, push the pedal on the right side and go fast!

I really like land speed record cars and you make great models of them. Very creative, lots of detail, and just cool to look at.

Thanks Steve!

In my dreams, I certainly do. Bonneville is still on my bucket list!

Thanks Roger!

Happy that you share my passion for salt cars. We hardly see any on the contest tables, alas...

CT, nice sequel, very original....

Thanks Al!

As long as you comply with SCTA's rule book, Salt cars allow for much creativity. Why not take advantage of it? LOL
