FenderMender Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 Mercury Police Car #54 is from a MPC "Super Snap" 1/25 scale kit. Was a little leery about this kit being too simple and maybe not in scale, but after getting started on it and using up the custom parts included in the kit, I kinda like it, especially the tall antenna! It's a Mercury, man.* *("Mercury Blues" is a song written by K. C. Douglas and Robert Geddins, and first recorded by K.C. Douglas in 1948. The song, originally titled "Mercury Boogie," pays homage to the American automobile marque, which ended production in 2010. The song has been covered among others by the Steve Miller Band in 1967 at The Monterey International Pop Festival and David Lindley and Ry Cooder.) 4
XYHARRY Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 (edited) Great looking patrol car there Bob. The number you chose '54' brought back memories of a TV series from the 60s called "Car 54 where are you." Well done on a fine build. Cheers, David. ?? Hoffman Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 Great photography. Your blend from the base to the full size background, and the scale of the buildings and shrubs in the background ~ awesome! Looks very convincing.
Chuckyg1 Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 If I had some money, know just what I'd do, go downtown and buy a Mercury or two. ' cause I'm crazy bout a Mercury. Nice looking Merc, (Dig the song too.)

I cannot take any credit for the background as the buildings and shrubs ARE the real things! The models are perched on a platform in the street that is high enough so that I can stand upright and take the pictures. All I have to worry about is a careless driver not looking where they are going and fail to see the platform curbside.

What I was getting at is that you set up your base at just the right distance away so it looks to be in scale with your model. I'm sure having it elevated helps a lot too. Well done! ?
NOBLNG Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 Great work on the merc…and the photography!?
Coyote_6 Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 Beautiful. And the raised white letter tires are just so right! Niiiiiice. Steve
Moparman18064 Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Agreed, cool Merc. Nice outdoor photography as well.
Sledsel Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 Looks great. The MPC snap is actually a better looking kit than the Revell.
ewetwo Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 Really nice. This kit build pretty nicely. I've done the police and the regular 49 snap kits.
