Hi-Po Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 I build this back in 2018 after coming across an article on the web about the first factory made motorhome to be built in America. I won't go into the history of the vehicle at this time, but for more information check out gtamarketing.com/graemes-1937-Ford-Housecar/. I started the build with the R/M 1937 Ford Pickup. The cab and the doors were removed just aft of the windshield. Everything from there back was scratch built using styrene sheet, rod and strip. All the items in the interior were scratch built, also. The engine was detailed with spark plug wires, fuel lines, heater hoses, etc. The louvers on the hood sides were opened up and brass wire was used for the handles. All of the kit chrome was removed and replaced with Alclad ll Chrome. The body color was a custom mix of Model Masters paints. I spent about 6 months, off and on, having fun building the model. If you check out the website that I mentioned above, you will see that I tried to capture the look of the real vehicle as best as I could, inside and out. I completed the model in time to enter it at the 2018 IPMS National Convention in Phoenix, where it placed second in the Documented Replica class. Enjoy the photos and comments are always welcomed. 16
