Porsche Summer Threesome

I just got around to photographing the three Hasegawa Porsche 962's I did this summer. They are quite simple as there is no engine detail and all the focus is on the body and paint. There are some sink marks around the side door where the intake from the top surface messes with the plastic. The door cuts were deepened as I feel they are a bit shallow for adding a black wash later. The REDDY TRUST car and the LEYTON HOUSE are JSCC cars and the TORNO sponsored car is from the European championship. They kind of remind me of European NASCAR in their flamboyant sponsorship liveries.

The TRUST one was built first. It was primed with MR Hobby white and painted with Tamiya white. The blue on the spoiler was Tamiya dark blue enamel. Mr Hobby Mr Super Clear topped off the white. The decals were ok and the only tricky part was the fine pin stripping on the decal sheet. It tests your patience to get straight on the car. The large tri colour patches split easily and care had to be taken to realign them on the car. I added some light weathering around the wheel arches and exhaust to give it some realism.

The TORNO sponsored car went together easily. Once the sink marks and the groves were depended it was primed in Mr Hobby white primer and painted in Mr Hobby White and Tamiya Park Green which was a perfect match for the green decals. The decal on the top of the cockpit was omitted and I masked and painted the top and sides. The top was completed using the edge of the decal for the red and white stripe. I'm glad I did this instead of using the kit supplied decal as there are many openings and compound curves to try to lay the decal over. The rest of the decals were added and the body was topped off with Mr Super Clear.

The Leyton House car was painted with a custom blend of Tamiya Sky Blue, White and Park Green over Mr Hobby White primer. The body colour was slightly darker I think then the original although it matches the box art quite well and stands alone as quite a beautiful colour. This decal sheet was a mess. I put the first decal on the rear spoiler and it split as I tried to position it. I couldn't save it and had to order a decal sheet online. I couldn't find an exact decal match but found an older one with a pretty cool variation. After polishing the body with a polishing kit, I clear coated the rest of the decal sheet and applied them. 

The wheels were painted with Testors gold and YNS chrome silver.

These were fun and I have a couple more in my stash which I plan to build maybe over the next winter.

I saw your Super CAD/ Penthouse version, I had just started the LEYTON HOUSE one at that time. It inspired me to improve the quality of mine  Yours is an absolute gem. You made such a clean precise build. You're still the bench mark for these.

Front row? Means I have about 16 rows to go ?. Next one I'm going to do I'm going to modify the bottom of the car and try to put some suspension detail in with turning front wheels. These are so simple it's easy to challenge yourself. Thank you for your kind words Phil!
