This morning the temperature in the garage was 67° and the humidity was a 34% so I got after it.  I laid down 3 coats of the Tamiya TS-92 Metallic Orange over the TS-30 Silver Leaf and I got the candy effect I was going for.  I think it looks pretty close to the cartoon pic I was trying to mimic.  I'll let this cure out then I'll airbrush the Splash Paints 2K Urethane clear over the Metallic Orange.

Wish I had seen this sooner cuz I'd have recommended you cut off the bottom of the front fenders and used the valance from the AMT kit. It is more correct than the Revell "thing"

Lookin' good tho.

That paint turned out very, very nice. Color looks spot on. Hopefully the clear goes on just as well.

Thanks Kyle.  The Spash Paints 2K clear hasn't failed me yet.  ?

Thanks man.  I appreciate the info.

I had a chance this morning to get the 57 to the spray booth and shoot the 2K clear on before I headed out to cut the grass.  Temperature was 63° with 37% humidity.  It came out really nice so I'm a happy camper.

That's a pretty color Bob and it looks like the paint went on really well.

Nicely done!

Thanks David.  A lot of fellows seem to think it's a copper color but it's actually Tamiya Metallic Orange over Silver Leaf then cleared.

Well, it's been 24 hrs so I started taking a close look at the clear coat that I did yesterday and it's leveled out really nice.  I knew I had issues with the hood but another coat of the clear late yesterday did the trick.  Now I'm seeing a new issue with the hood.  I know yesterday there was a hint of the slot on the hood where the emblem goes but this morning it looks much worse.  Not sure what I'm going to do with this.

Very cool build! I have a friend locally who is building one of these as well, he emailed me earlier this week asking if I had any idea about decals as he hasn't been able to source any and needs some to be custom-made. You mentioned getting custom decals, any information would be helpful, I already told him about STS Scale Model decals who will be vending at our ACME show next weekend. One of our 2025 themes next year is drag racing.

Thanks man.  I custom ordered my Gapin Gasser III decals from STS.  Bad thing is they are 6+ weeks behind on orders.

Awesome, I just called my friend and we'll be talking to STS next Friday/Saturday at the show. I can imagine doing custom work his timeline will keep getting stretched, he does really nice work. I've bought a bunch of their hang-tag decal sets at a couple of shows including ours last year.

Well it's nice to hear he does really nice work.  Just wish they would communicate a little more.

Great stuff Bob. As usual. Liking this one a lot already. I learn a lot with the great pictorial shots of your work and techniques. Thanks for posting them.

Thanks man.  I'm glad your finding some of what I post useful.

If nothing else, there will be two of us next Saturday rattling his cage about these decals!

My goal this morning was to get the body polished out, bmf on front and rear glass trim, and get all the glass installed.  I'm feeling pretty good on where I'm at on this build.

That looks really sweet. Hopefully the wait for the decals is worth it and they lay down with no issue.

Thanks Kyle.  Yup, hopefully they lay down nice.
