You need to do the Barris Batmobile next as those two models next to each other would look fantastic. Really well done David. Cheers, David M.?? Thank you very much for your kind comment David. And I already do have a Polar Lights Batmobile that I built when they were first released back innnnn..... 2010? In fact, I have a whole Batcave full of Batmobiles. Yup, I'm a Bat-fan! Thanks again for your comment David. =D- 1
carrucha Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Neat build. Looks good in the pearl green.

David G. Posted November 12, 2024 Author Posted November 12, 2024 Hello Everybody! Brace yourselves, it's time for the next Futura photo set. (I promise, there's only a couple more after this one) Both the front and rear bumpers needed to be built up and reshaped where they join with the body. The rear was the worse of the two. On the front bumper I had to smooth out ejector pin marks just to either side of the center grille. The kit designers tried to pass them off as the turn signal/parking lights. On the real car, those are actually in the outer corners of that center grille cove. Where I painted them in. Though they didn't give much relief to work with, I managed to paint the "Futura" script on the hood. That's all for this round. Thanks for your patience and I hope you enjoy them. David G.
spencer1984 Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 Seriously beautiful job on this, I know you put in a ton of work and it really paid off!
Ken Car-Fanatic Posted November 12, 2024 Posted November 12, 2024 Very nice! I've always been a fan of some of the futuristic concept cars & I have this kit so I know what you started with. I'm impressed & inspired to see what some good fit & finish adjustments & good paint can make this kit look like. I know this car was shown in white, a metallic green & bright red (in the 1959 Glenn Ford movie version), however after seeing yours, I think the metallic green version looks the best. Very nice build.

Very nice build. Thank you Ken. When I bought this kit several years ago I had two colors in mind for it, either a pale icy blue pearl or a pale pearl green. I bought Tamiya's TS-60 Pearl Green for another project but ended up using something else instead. Having some extra pearl green I was looking in the stash for something to use it on and saw the Futura on the shelf. I'm quite pleased with the outcome. Thanks again for your kind comment Ken. Mark W Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 Stunning build! I can truly appreciate your skilled efforts as a Futura now sits in parts on my workbench. I can’t imagine how you turned these ill-fitting parts into such a beautiful build!

Pierre Rivard Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 A wonderful build David and the journey was not an easy one but taking a simple period kit and turning into this masterpiece must be very rewarding. I knew the Batmobile was built off this car but never realized the extent of the modifications were made until I saw the pictures you posted of both cars. I think the original Futura is a much better design and I love your replica of it. Well, well well done sir!
ModelcarJR Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 Looks great, David! I can't believe you spent only 52 hours on this one. It would take me a lifetime! Nice work! And I love the Pearl Green paint! ??

I too am surprised that I only invested 52 hours in this build, it felt like a lifetime while I was building it. But I'm glad to have it done and I'm happy with the result. Thank you. David G.
David G. Posted November 19, 2024 Author Posted November 19, 2024 Hello Everybody! Here's the next to the last photo set for the Futura. I don't often paint figures but I usually will when they are included in the kit. The figures are supposed to be glued in before the steering wheel is installed but I wanted the option of displaying the car without them. So with the use of a couple of 3mm magnets, I made the steering wheel removable. Without the figures, the sparsely detailed interior can be viewed in all its underwhelming glory! There's just one more set after this one. Thanks for your patience. David G.
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 Exceptionally nice build of a kit that defines "challenging". The color is perfect too, much more attractive than the white pearl.

I have to admit, opening the box for the first time and seeing what was in there I did have concerns. I knew I could build it and get... something. I'm glad I was able to get it to come together as well as I did. Thanks again. David G.
David G. Posted November 23, 2024 Author Posted November 23, 2024 Hello Everybody! I promise, this is the last set! Thank you all for your patience. Since the figures are removable I can do fun photos shoots like this! Why let the fun stop there? Let's do one in "period correct" black & white. And finally, my traditional Display Case photo. And with that I'm finally calling this build completed! Thanks to all of you who followed along during the build process of this challenging kit. Having your support and encouragement helped more than you could imagine. Thanks. David G.
