Speed City casting makes great 426 block, but Scott is usually out of stock. Check his site. I'd say the HUG is 90% accurate, save the body and exhaust and under front hood detail. I'm relying on memory here! Thanks much for the response and added info. I'll pull out my Dec. ;65 Rod and Custom and check out those areas specifically. If I had to pick the best overall factory stock 426 Hemi I'd choose the Revell unit in the '67 Charger, '67 Coronet R/T and '67 GTX kits. As for blown 426 Hemis I presume you are referring to the Revell series of super-accurate "Revell Drag Team" kits 1972 and later. That's an excellent suggestion; thanks for that too. TB 2

Another thing worth noting is that the upcoming AMT '64 Olds AWB appears to have the same new rubber front tires, that were tooled up for the reissue of the '65 Chevelle AWB kit - A vast improvement over the plastic front tires in most of the repurposed AMT Altered Wheelbase kits! I really hope we'll see these, as well as the trailer tires from both AMT's '60 Ford Pickup and MPC's '68 Dodge Coronets, in other future Round2 releases. That's right, I forgot about the Corvair! Same trans and motor ! Here is Speed City's blown 426 block! Pretty sweet! 2
iwantmodels Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Cannot wait for the '64 Barracuda and the '60 Nomad. I wonder if we'll ever see the craftsman 1964 Corvair?

And a 392 front cover. Looking at the instructions on the Drastic Plastics site, it kinda looks like a mish-mash of parts. Personally, I am going to do the McEwen car as I have the Slixx decals but using a 426 from the Too Much dragster. I will take a look at my HUG kit, but I am pretty sure it has the knock off M/T style valve covers. The kit was supposed to be the Plymouth Dealers car, but by the time they got it ready, the car was gone and the body had been updated to a 66, thus the HUG was born in kit form.

The Model Cat Garage 65 Satellite/Belvedere photoetch set has the V8 Fender Emblems. The Little Red Wagon Kit has a 273 engine. Also VCG Resins has a very nice small block Plymouth/Dodge engine in their line. 1
Daddyfink Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 I just can not find my HUG kits!! So here is the next best thing, the HPI Guy build video. It clearly shows the valve covers and cylinder heads, and they are definitely for a 426 Hemi! But once again, the mag is in the wrong place!!
ChrisBcritter Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 Wonder how hard it would be to combine the HUG body with the new kit to make a stock-ish '66 Barracuda?

I was thinking the same thing... probably not very? I assume all you'd really have to do is graft the stock rear wheel openings from the '65 onto the HUG's body... basically DIY tool backdating?! Since the HUG's body tooling is just modified from the '66 promo version in that one detail. Sure, '65s and '66s have some slight differences in their front and back edge bodylines, but I'm sure the rear wheel openings are the same on both as far as the 1:1's are concerned. That, and cut the HUG's hood from its one-piece body, if you didn't want it to be a curbside. Not sure that I, personally would have that easy of a time doing it, but someone who actually knew what they were doing probably would. I'll definitely buy one when it comes out, either way. I'd most likely do it box-stock as I'm kind of a novice. I did have the thought of trying to do it as a '66 though, as I have an un-started HUG kit. And I would like to have a stock '66... as the one in the movie "The Wraith" is what introduced me to the first generation Barracuda when I was a kid. To this day I like the first generation more than the other two. I know MCW Finishes did have a '66 Resin kit on their site, but I never bit the bullet on it. Seems they don't carry it, though... for the time being, at least. Edited November 18, 2024 by ClassicDarts
Motor City Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 I would not be surprised if Round2 has a '66 Barracuda promo or kit that can be cloned to revive it. 1

I have Motor City Resin's excellent resin 66 Barracuda Formula S kit bought a few years ago and it included a 273 HP in the kit.

ranma Posted November 18, 2024 Posted November 18, 2024 I like that Round 2 is Bringing back the 1960 Chevrolet Nomad Wagon. Our Family owned one back in the early 70's . The ol man foolishly sold it and the '58 Bel Air he had then both were scrapped/crushed! Alas Just like the real one I'll Most likely will miss out on getting a couple of them when the come out some time in the next year. A perposed 60-100% tariff will put then and most other kit's out of reach price wise for me..... 1
dragsterguy Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 Tim, the May 1965 issue of Modern Rod magazine has 4 pages of detail-construction pics of the Hemi Cuda, BUT!!!.... Get this, no pics of the Torkmaster unit, instead of the Torkmaster, they used a picture of a B&M Hydro unit saying they were "tempted" to use the Hydro, but used the Torkmaster instead. Gee thanks guys! Obviously the Torkmaster wasn't yet installed. Several shots of the stock door upholstery , fuel system etc. Worth 15 bucks on Ebay. I'm still looking. Sorry, my printer-scanner barely works.

I believe I heard Steve G. correctly when he said that they've tooled up this new wheel cover that was never in the original 3 in 1 kit. It will be in the kit, along with the prior wheel covers that were in the original 3 in 1....TB That is fantastic news about the multiple sets of wheelcovers in this kit. The last time I saw those wheelcovers was on a 65 Valiant Signet Craftsman kit.
Rob Hall Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 Having never had an AMT '65 Valiant or Barracuda, looking forward to seeing this... 1

dragsterguy Posted November 21, 2024 Posted November 21, 2024 (edited) Back to the Hemi Cuda ! IF anybody cares (Tim) there is a good article in the June 65 issue of Car Craft INCLUDING an x-ray type drawing by Steve Swaja. Steve Swaja is an American dragster designer in the 1960s.[1] Swaja was responsible for both Tony Nancy wedge cars of 1963, the Yellow Fang slingshot in 1963, and "TV Tommy" Ivo's Videoliner in 1965. It at least has a drawing of the B&M Torkmaster ! Edited November 21, 2024 by dragsterguy

RSchnell Posted November 24, 2024 Posted November 24, 2024 The Nomad wagon is a pleasant surprise and will definitely find it's way to my stash. Thanks Tim for posting the pics!
53_Sedandelivery Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Any shots of the underside of the 1960 Wagon? Have a Jimmy Flintstone sedan delivery body, going to re-create the old Monogram Quick Silver in 1/25 with a less 1970s look. Will buy at least two of these wagons (one stock).
ranma Posted February 7 Posted February 7 If my thinking is correct a '59 El Camino chassis/engine should be a natural fit for the '60 Nomad wagon. 2
Ron Hamilton Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Years ago, I opened the hood on an AMT 1964 Plymouth Valiant Signet. And added an engine and chassis detail from the AMT 71 Duster 340. I dressed the engine like a 273 Power Pak. I had to shorten the chassis about 3/16", and remove the floor from the interior tub. I plan to do the same with the 65 Barracuda I have ro rebuild. 11
