Zippi Posted March 19 Author Posted March 19 I finally got the body prepped and in primer. I decided to spay the chassis with Seymour's 316L Stainless Steel. The running gear is all shot with semi-gloss black which really looks good against the Stainless Steel. The tires have been painted and the wheels installed but I still need to paint the wheel back in body color. The plan is still to paint the body in a dark Maroon with black rubber running boards. I have painted the kit Cherry Bomb mufflers but not sure If I'll use them or not. 4
Zippi Posted March 20 Author Posted March 20 I'm getting some work done on the 572 BBC that I printed out. I'm using a printed distributor that has bigger holes and I can't drill out the holes for fear of breaking out the outer wall so the holes are not very deep. I think I may epoxy the plug wires in the distributor first and see if I can route them to the block without them breaking out. The air cleaner is just setting on the carb. I haven't decided if I'll leave it black, painted it red, or chrome it. 5
Sledsel Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Looking good. Nice kit, Chassis does look good with the contrast. Personally I wish it gave more options but hey, that's what spare parts are for.
JollySipper Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Zippi, man...... This all looks Really good! I might have maybe a little easier way to wire the engine, though, if that's cool. If you attach them to the block first, once you attach them to the distributor, you'll be done with that wire. There would be less moving the wires around once they're on the distributor, so less chance of them coming loose from the cap...... Just trying to be helpful!

That's backwards from my normally process but might be worth a shot.
Zippi Posted March 21 Author Posted March 21 (edited) I got a little more of the chassis completed. I have some .090 wire I'm going to use to route from the exhaust pipes to the collectors on the headers then paint them to match the exhaust. Edited March 21 by Zippi 8
NOBLNG Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Chassis is looking good Bob, and that engine is a thing of beauty!👍😎
dragcarz Posted March 21 Posted March 21 I’m really late on this one Bob, It’s really looking good as usual.

bobss396 Posted March 22 Posted March 22 I should crank one out myself since they build up so well. I have a good stash of 3D printed engines. I'd figure a SBC would fit well. Distributors... one of my pet peeves when they have to be drilled out. I just got some #71 to #76 drills, regular HSS. The printed resin does not play well with carbide printed circuit drills. 1
slusher Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Zippi you have another Hotrod going and your engine looks great!

A SBC would work Great in the business end.

Zippi Posted March 22 Author Posted March 22 I got the 572 BBC wired and installed and did a mock-up with the firewall in place to make sure the distributor clears. All looks good so far. 5 1

Zippi Posted March 27 Author Posted March 27 Not much going on but I did manage to get the exhaust buttoned up. 2
Zippi Posted March 28 Author Posted March 28 I had a good day so thought I'd better get after it and throw some paint on the 37. Paint is Tamiya Maroon. I'll let this set for a few days and then airbrush some Splash Paints 2K Clear over it. I'm really pleased with how the paint laid down. 7
DJMar Posted March 28 Posted March 28 Looks sweet, I am really liking that color. Also, smooth. Very smooooth.
