charlie libby Posted March 9 Posted March 9 had this idea for awhile i had said i wanted to use a novi v8 for something different but i am not a researcher so i am having trouble finding pictures and info on the novi but i havent given up yet. if i dont find it i will go with an Ls . got my wheels made and am happy with them. made the brake rotors and front hubs. i opened the trunk, this is the first time i have tried that. the doors were already separate. alot of cutting and modifying of the wheel openings. I am not sure how many pictures i can put on here at one time so i will stop for now. thanks , more to come in between the Bugatti paint and assembly 4
Belugawrx Posted March 9 Posted March 9 (edited) Very nice mods there Charlie ! Your fingers must be feeling better... I'm guessing 1:12th...? Edited March 10 by Belugawrx
1320 Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Great work with your wheels Charlie, I have always made flat or six spokes for easier dividing, five is a great achievement. They look really good. I love the direction this one is taking! Jim
AmericanMuscleFan Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Great project Charlie, it must be fun for you to come back to a Styrene body after all the hard work you did on all the brass panels of the Bugatti. The wheels look great by the way, if I remember correctly you mentioned 1/16 scale for your next project in another of your threads, is that the case?
charlie libby Posted March 10 Author Posted March 10 my finger is doing well, six months they say for the nail to grow back. thanks for asking. yes it is 1/16scale, hard to get used to . it all looks so small. i thought this was an unusual idea. but i really like the way it looks. styrene is fun,its so easy to cut and machine. ill save alot of money on tooling. thanks for your comments 2
Mattilacken Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Nice to se an 1/16 build. Looks good ned you did great on those spokes.
ybsluos Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Charlie this is spectacular! Love the flares and bodywork. -Mark

ybsluos Posted March 18 Posted March 18 A few pictures from the Hot Rod Magazine article and a couple others I found.
ybsluos Posted March 18 Posted March 18 A few more. Just trying to help your awesome project. I’m a fool for 1/16!
ybsluos Posted March 18 Posted March 18 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JL_QLyoQsxI Last one guys. In the mid 80s a gentleman named Jim Riggle scratch built a 1/4 scale sprint car in which to showcase his machines and functional 1/4 scale NOVI. Listen to that thing!
Big John Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Thiis is one of my favorite NOVI build pics. I just love the characters working on the engine. 1
charlie libby Posted April 7 Author Posted April 7 computer problems. i am back just been working on the rearend in between painting and assembly on the Bugatti . not much done but it is going well . yeah bruce he is definitely the man in charge. thanks for the picture john. mark awesome ,have seen that more than once . i printed all those pictures mark thank you. 1
MarkJ Posted April 9 Posted April 9 The first car I ever owned was a 55 Chevy I bought for 150 dollars back in 1969. It actually ran and got me to school because I needed transportation other than a bus to get to my disributive education job at midday. Leaked oil profusely and smoked but it did the job for me. This one you are building is a far cry from that one.
Tony Coomer Posted April 11 Posted April 11 Very interesting and kool build. Looking forward to more updates…
Codi Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Love exotic and putting a novi in this beast will certainly qualify Charlie. btw, so..........1/16th scale huh? What's next.....1/25th? It's a slippery slope. Cheers, tim
charlie libby Posted April 21 Author Posted April 21 hey tim ,1/16 ,everything is so small i have to keep checking to make sure its right . 1/25 is scary to think abought, i will have to get better lighting and a visual assistants. hi tony here is a small update. working hard on the Bugatti paint. i had a 55 in 1972.great fun, bored out 283 with big cam and Headers, i miss it. sold it just before basic training. i have been using alot of rattle cans of late donato. working on the rearend. i went with a fabricated 9 inch and 3 link suspension. started a little on the novi. i know ,kind of weird huh! i like different. see you in a week or so 2
Pierre Rivard Posted April 21 Posted April 21 Another great one is starting to take shape. I like your approach to each component set, like that beautiful rear axle/diff, treating it like a scale model by itself. The idea of creating something special starting with the legendary 55 Chevy and dropping a Novi engine into it is beautifully mad. Carry on Master Charlie, we're all... eyes!
BK9300 Posted April 22 Posted April 22 It’s exciting to see your start on the engine. From the pics there are of the real engine, it looks like it will be quite a challenge to model it - a challenge I’m certain you will meet!
AmericanMuscleFan Posted Wednesday at 04:08 PM Posted Wednesday at 04:08 PM You're keeping busy Charlie, this is another project that's off to a great start, I have a feeling we're going to have a lot more fun following your updates. 👍
Codi Posted Wednesday at 09:51 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:51 PM One things undeniable Charlie......you ARE having fun! Both builds right now are a treat to the eyes and this engine will be something I can't wait to see come to life. Best of luck with her. cheers, tim
