Bugatti Fan Posted March 30 Posted March 30 (edited) I would imagine those coffin sized boxes for 1/200 scale Titanics must be in the running ? Getting back to the OP. What a waste of packaging for a 1/25th/1/24th scale kit. I saw on the box an advent calendar appeared to be included. If the box was actually opened on Christmas Day it sort of made the advent calendar included a bit redundant I would imagine. Edited March 30 by Bugatti Fan 2
2doors3pedals Posted March 30 Posted March 30 This is a big one - Heller 1/8 scale Citroen 15. 33" x 21" x 5". I'm going to need a much bigger work bench! 3

But I believe the biggest kit box I had was Monograms Golden T. I got that one and the BiG Deuce, Big T, big drag and tub... 1
Bill Anderson Posted April 1 Posted April 1 Can't speak to plane or ship kits, but I do recall a Richard Petty (life long fan) Plymouth (?) kit from years ago. It was just too big for me, and a bit pricey too. 1

First layer: Some tires, a ‘decal’ sheet (actually vinyl stickers) and some of those useless acrylic paints that you always find in starter sets… Second layer: Instruction manual, some nippers, clear parts, and first peek at a sprue… I didn’t wanna unpack it further yet in case I’m ruining some big surprise for myself… Here it is with a standard-ish kit box though for more context… 2 1

I think the box IS the advent calendar, although the instructions reference ‘doors’ to open each day: Maybe I need to dig into this further… 2
Bugatti Fan Posted April 2 Posted April 2 So the object is to open the box in 1st December (not Christmas day) and build it day by day running up to the big day when the model becomes completed? A bit weird if it is meant to be an actual Christmas present instead being a supplementary one. At least unlike normal chocolate filled advent calendars what comes out of this one can remain on display. 1
Beans Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Following the instructions in order would be the biggest challenge for me. 1
Bill Anderson Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Sorry for the negativity, but I wouldn't waste my money on it. 1
Goose1957 Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Actually, this is probably the largest kit box and kit, lol. 15 grand doesn't sound like a bad deal. https://thejeepsterman.com/products/jeep-in-crate-mb-1942-willys-jeep?srsltid=AfmBOoo--Usj_Vtj83dxieuqVFPxba8bf6faLfagbvzKmse99r0VHCbv Jeff 2 1

Even I could manage to get that built by Christmas. Though, door 11 has three parts to fit plus two stickers to apply... that could be a rough day. 1
TarheelRick Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Reminds me of some of Amazon's shipping boxes. I received a box at least that size which contained two books. They are well known for overboxing their shipments.
