Can-Con Posted May 2 Posted May 2 (edited) Um, OK, I've never been to either L.A. or Vegas but isn't that the Vegas Strip, not the Sunset Strip?🤨 But, anyway, nothing there I don't already have but it would have been nice to see the new decals in the '53 Ford pickup , , and they didn't mention the mini-tubbed bed in the Elky , , Again. 🙄 Edited May 2 by Can-Con 2
1972coronet Posted May 3 Posted May 3 LOL at the right headlamp on the illustration of the stock '53 F-100. Nice to see the customised '68 Elco back !

Ron Hamilton Posted May 3 Posted May 3 My wallet is safe this month, as I have unbuilt examples of each of the model cars I want.
Force Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Not a very exciting month, I have unbuilt kits of te ones I like in my stash already...several of them.
TonyK Posted May 3 Posted May 3 I think everyone has built that '53 Ford pickup and probably have another in our stash.

DJMar Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Well there goes the "collector's value" of all the '68 El Camino street machine kits I have in the stash! 🤣 I wonder if they fixed the sink marks in the b-pillars/sail panels of this one? I'm chuffed to see the GTX , because I built the last one I had about 25 years ago. 1

Yes...it's fixed, along with the frame which no longer has a slight warpage as did the original (at least my originals). This is a really good kit. Hope the new box art and decal livery draws more attention to it and more builders get to enjoy putting it together....TB 1

Also, I agree that this is a really fun kit, it builds up well even with the small issues. I have a few in the stash already so I probably won't get one, but I really dig the new decal sheet.
Dtimmerman89 Posted May 3 Posted May 3 I may have to grab one of the Elco kits... but another 53 pickup? That makes Four reissues in five years. I bet we could name 50 kits that are in dire need of a reprint. I personally would love to see some more vintage promo cars get the curbside kit treatment so I can finish more cars in-between my normal high detailed builds. 1

av405 Posted May 4 Posted May 4 (edited) People should get to say what they want regarding interest in upcoming kits. But let's face it, "my wallet is safe" posts have almost become a meme since they pop up on every single one of these threads. Edited May 4 by av405 3
rrb124@sbcglobal.net Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Thinking that I saw one of the engine options on one of the kits that I would like to have. It's a DeSoto Hemi with 8 carbs. Unusual. Would be sharp in a hot rod Deuce. 1

There's a few folks who's wallets have been safe every month for the entire time Round2 has been producing these videos...that was my point. Like there's great value in helping people out who, in the case of the above discussion, didn't realize the Elky roof issues had been resolved. I just don't see where the race to be first in here to say you're not buying anything...MONTH.AFTER.MONTH...adds anything of value. 10
stavanzer Posted May 4 Posted May 4 I agree, that the '53 Ford Pickup tooling is getting heavy use. It must be selling well enough to warrant the time/money/effort. The optional DeSoto Hemi in that kit it excellent and does make a great street rod or T-bucket power plant. I'm glad to see so many car kits released this month, better than the last couple.

Comparing it to the original 1988 issue, it is about 15% of the size of the original sink marks; in reality, just about undetectable. If you paint the engraved vinyl roof with a flat/matte finish to the paint (as you should) I doubt anyone would notice it on a built model this time. That's what I plan to do....will report back when done. Best...TB Edited May 5 by tim boyd 4
