thats the middle of scotland and western isles, we speak closer to norn in the north isles which is like old scandinavian crossed with germanic english. i can understand a little but it easier if your drunk, lol

I don't understand any of it myself but there's a lot [mostly?] decedents of Scotts, Irish and some Welsh in Atlantic Canada and they try to keep the languages alive here as best they can.

Actually, just looking at this section of the forums one can see how clueless members are about starting threads in the correct forum.  Just look at all those moved threads (and there are plenty more here).

With this in mind how can we expect members to use tags or mention scale in the Subject line?

Actually TBH, even this thread doesn't belong in this section.  This section is specifically for  "Model Cars Magazine News and Discussions. This is for news and discussion about the magazine. We will be posting news and announcements, and you are welcome to ask questions. As always, please be respectful. "  It is not for discussions about the MCM online forum.  Better fit for this thread would be in the "How To Use This Board" section.

Chill out Pete.

People are people. We are all different. Some are very organised whilst others live in chaos. You cannot change them !

You can take a horse to water but cannot always make it drink !

No matter how much you try, you will not get folk to change how they use (or misuse) this forum no matter how much cajoling. Best not to get up tight about it and just accept the situation for what it is as it is not worth worrying about and just enjoy carrying on building our models.

YOU need to read the be respectful part again. Our members are not idiots but you call them clueless while quoting the rule about being respectful. So in your process of having to prove your superiority over everyone else (as you do every day again and again) you have proven you didn't even read what you quoted. Maybe you should get someone to proof read your posts before you post them?

So if the argument is its unreasonable to expect members to use tags and create meaningful titles why should Dave add a new section titled BIG Boys when there will be people who won't use that section either.  Tags are a useful tool to allow virtual groupings that are meaniful.

its not that its unreasonable, its more that most of us are pretty stuck in our way of doing things so adding tags is easily forgotten and they only really work if everybody uses the same tags. if they dont you get a page of variations on the spelling of some brand names. for example dupli-colour has a variety of brands they sell as and many have different spelling. in the usa you dupli-color, in the uk its dupli-colour and thats 2 tags for the same product just from 2 countries that allegedly speak the same language so when you add in the rest of the languages you might have 30 tags for one item and no 2 spelled the same. i still say if its big scale add that in the title. its the only part most of us read anyway.

I don't think he was being disrespectful. It appears he was simply making a point about how it can be difficult to properly categorize a topic. Perhaps a different word would have conveyed that better.

Exactly.  As you correctly interpreted my thoughts - I was making a point that  is seems futile to expect members to religiously use tags or add scale info in the subject line.  Les, I'm far from perfect  - I pretty sure I would also often forget to use those simple rules.

So which word could be used to describe those individuals and not set off the disrespectful alert?

Oblivious? Unaware? Unknowing? Unconscious? Absentminded? That's all I took your comment to be.

I can see where this is going guys.    Respective points have now been made.

Let's get back to discussing if a Large Scale section would be desirable or not.

Yes the original post was a simple question that only required a simple answer with minimal explanation.
