I got this kit at the same time I purchased the ships cannon kit. These were available through the mail with a proof of purchase of a box of 20 Mule Team Borax. These were available for quite a long time as I understand it. This kit was bagged and complete as I received it. And when I think about it, everyone probably had a box of Borax under their sink back in these days. I have one myself. I cannot recall the last time I used it. But I imagine it has been quite a while. Heck, it might not even be mine.

The kit instructions also have a description and pictures of a board to fix your team to. It shows where the nails go and all the measurements needed to display your finished team.

Acrylics and washes, followed by batch painting the mules and here we are. It resides at Cottage Antiques owned by one of my closest friends where it attracts a little attention now and again.

Even had a few offers in the past. But it's on permanent display. NFS.

Beautiful looking finishes and very realistic looking. Reminds me how different it is to make a living today compared to then.

Very nice work. I have two of the kits I got from Borax with box tops......the good old days!

You gotta build one Dave. Lots of parts in that thing eh?

Really cool model. Great weathering and detail. You might like this:

That was fantastic. Thanks Kit!

When I think about how they did it back when. No tractors for help, and the mules were most likely better trained for it. These guys really did an outstanding job replicating and taking on such a crazy ride. Time marches on...

I think those bells would have driven me nuts after one hour, let alone days.

Excellent paint work as usual Bob , definitely the nicest one I've ever seen .  I also have this kit still in it's box . I purchased it more for sentimental reasons but may take another look at it after seeing yours built !

I agree about those bells! If you have the interest and way too much spare time, there is a Youtube playlist about how the guy built those three wagons.

I watched about an hours worth last night. No wonder people only lived so long. It was a tough gig that Borax run.
