DJMar Posted May 26 Posted May 26 This kit was announced quite a while ago. The latest I've seen of it was a post from Sven's World of Wheels from last week, with a test shot build up. Maybe a late summer release? https://www.instagram.com/svensworldofwheels/reel/DJ35cwWutkv/
Stef Posted May 27 Posted May 27 On the new Widebody kit, looks like they increased the diameter of the tires and wheels; they look at bit "meatier" than the somewhat undersized-looking offerings from the RT kit HPI Guy built awhile back.
Jordan White Posted May 27 Posted May 27 I think part of the problem is no sidewall detailing that provides more definition, it is blank which makes it look taller.

The smaller ones are what are in the kit. Sean built his with a set of the prototype wheels which were originally larger than the end result. 1

As much as I want this kit, I'll wait until some Youtuber builds a production version so I know what to expect regarding the wheels and tires, thanks! 1

One sees that with more tires, leaving the sidewall blank no line or tire size to break the wall (or how do you say that) Are manufactures hoping that in the future they can "brand" them again, thus leaving them blank being the better option to begin with? Italeri on their truck line of kits, do have sidewall detail, without a brand name that is, so it's very much an option. 2

I agree that tires with even generic sidewall details breaking up the smooth surface would be large visual improvement over the "bald" sidewalls. They could still leave enough blank sidewall for possible future branding. Not sure why manufacturers opt for smooth sidewalls. And the 1:1 automotive manufacturers requiring model companies to get a license to use their logos is also silly. Using the logos on models is like free advertising for them (and advertising is normally very expensive). Edited May 30 by peteski 1

The whole licensing deal just smacks of college boy mentality ; college boys of the 1980s (when I first read about the whole then-pending mess of the kit manufacturers paying for a licence for free advertising ).
