OldTrucker Posted June 11 Posted June 11 Thanks for the music Brian! We will miss you! Got to meet him in the 60's when my oldest brother was in the Marines. He was good friends with Dennis and surfed with him every chance he got. Brian was very reserved, I guess shy would have better described him but he was also a funny guy once he loosened up.
TonyK Posted June 11 Posted June 11 He has given me years and years of pleasure listening to his music and I will continue to enjoy even though he is gone. Thanks so much Brian and the Beach Boys. Glad he made it to 82.
Mike 1017 Posted June 12 Posted June 12 Last night I listened to Pet Sounds on vinyl after hearing the sad news R.I.P Brian 2
slusher Posted June 12 Posted June 12 I listened too them a lot when I was younger. Sad news the music lives on.. 1
Ace-Garageguy Posted June 12 Posted June 12 I rarely give a rat's rump about celebs moving on, but this saddens me. My folks moved us from the Jersey shore to the middle-of-nowhere SC, and Beach Boys music went a long way towards keeping me somewhat sane after being transplanted into a pretty alien culture, where the closest (usually lousy) surf was 2 hours away. Thanks for every note you ever wrote Brian. Really. 4
Calb56 Posted June 12 Posted June 12 (edited) Growing up in the early 70's I was mostly interested in his early songs about cars. Learned what a 409 was because of The Beach Boys... it wasn't until I was older that I got to appreciate his later creativity. R.I.P. Edited June 12 by Calb56 Typo 3
iamsuperdan Posted June 13 Posted June 13 Sorry, I can't think of The Beach Boys without hearing this version of I Get Around.
sidcharles Posted June 13 Posted June 13 the music behind the music: you will recognize many names. 1
Bugatti Fan Posted June 13 Posted June 13 (edited) One of the singer song writer greats in pop music culture from the 60's. There was something about the Surfin Sound that resonated even right over here in the UK that gave us all a bit of a lift on many of our often grey British days and imagining that California sunshine. The Beach Boys sound was totally different to our Beatles compositions, both of which epitomized the youth culture of the Swinging Sixties as they were known on both sides of the Atlantic. Good Vibrations has to be their most innovative song from that era that blew me away when I first heard it when it was released, and still does even now. RIP Brian Wilson.
