Here's my version of the Revell 1981 Camaro Z28 with some modifications. I painted it in Createx  Opaque White and it was cleared with Createx 4053 High Gloss, then wet-sanded, polished, and waxed. I masked off and painted the trim and light openings with Createx opaque black. I ordered the 20 and 21-inch 80's style Camaro wheels from Jay's Resin Wheels on Ebay. Those were painted with Ammo by Mig Aluminum and Tamiya X-31 Titanium Gold, and I added copper wire painted black for valve stems. I did have to drill holes to re-locate the front wheels for the lower profile look, but the rear wheel location was un-modified. I cut out the molded in engine and transmission plate and exhaust and used the engine/transmission and exhaust from the Revell 1969 Camaro Z28 RS. It fit perfectly with no alterations needed. I did add an intake manifold and carburetor from a NASCAR kit with a machined aluminum air cleaner from Off The Sprue. I added spark plug wires, an aftermarket Accel coil, and heater hoses to help with the engine compartment detail. The interior was painted in a custom mixed color using craft paints with embossing powder for carpet, a sewing pin for the shifter ball, and copper wire painted black for door locks. The stripe decals were very nice and applied without an issue. I did need some setting solution and made a couple of cuts on the taillight decals.

This is a bit of a mis-leading kit from Revell as it is a Snap-Together kit that should have been labeled as such. That being said, while lacking in details, it is not a bad kit as far as snap kits are concerned. The parts fit was pretty good and, again, the decals are pretty nice. It was very easy to remove the parts that I did and it seems that you can replace them with pretty much any engine/trans/exhaust combo with minimal effort. This turned out to be a pretty fun build, and I recently acquired another to do in a different color. As always, thanks for looking!

Very nice, Craig! What did you use to tint the T-top panels?

Thanks! I some X-19 Tamiya Smoke and sprayed about 5 coats to the inside of the T-tops.

Beautiful looking paint finish and color combination with the stripes and interior. Like the wheels and the way you painted them.

Great looking Camaro.  Looks like it could have come right off of my High School's parking lot.  Well done.

Cool Camaro.  I really dig the color combo and wheels.  The decals really look good with the body color.

That is one kickass build. I always liked these as the front reminds me a lot of the '76 Trans Am.😎🤑
