70Monte454 Posted July 8 Posted July 8 I love this kit. It has some flaws of course but the feeling of nostalgia I get with these kits makes me look past the flaws. I started this one about 15 years ago and it got boxed up when moving. The paint is hardware store GM color paint. I think it's pretty close to 1970 Chevy "Astro blue". My dad has a 70 SS 396 in the same color. His car came with no hood pins or cowl induction so I sanded those parts off. I fiddled with the ride height a bit to make it sit how they did factory- a little lower in the back. At some point, I broke the rear window, so I made one out of a clear salad container and it doesn't look half bad! The decals were an ancient Fred caddy sheet with black stripes, as the black stripes are hard to find for the revell kit. I really stink at clear coating but have been having luck with quick shine floor polish. I got some Firestone wide oval decals off eBay and put a matte coat over them. I'm pretty happy with the results! 18
beeRS Posted July 8 Posted July 8 Very nice indeed. The GM blue looks perfect to me. The salad package ‘glass’ is a great idea.
STU111 Posted July 8 Posted July 8 Very sharp looking Chevelle there. Love the save regarding the rear window. 👍🏻 Top stuff.
XYHARRY Posted July 8 Posted July 8 Very nice Chevelle there Steve, I have the AMT 70 Chevelle SS in my stash and would be happy if it turned out as nice as yours. I like that you added the build list on the passenger window, a cool detail. Well done.

It came with black stripes, white stripes some yenko stickers, some gauge faces for random sized gauges that build sheet, and some Harrison air-conditioning stickers 2
ncbuckeye67 Posted July 8 Posted July 8 Great looking replica! I love the blue, it looks amazing with the black stripes.
espo Posted July 8 Posted July 8 Beautiful paint finish and color. Clean looking body trim and like the Monroney Window sticker.
Dragonhawk1066 Posted July 8 Posted July 8 Very well done! Revell really needs to re-release this one!
AMT68 Posted July 9 Posted July 9 Excellent work and the extra details really complement the build. And I really like the blue which isn't frequently seen on these Chevelles.
DoctorLarry Posted Friday at 03:43 PM Posted Friday at 03:43 PM Looks just like I remember them in high school. Very well done!
