Cool Hand Posted July 31 Posted July 31 (edited) One of those builds just for fun and to further develop airbrush painting skills and maintain build techniques. Id say the idea's and inspiration for the style of the build, came from watching South Florida car culture and Donk car show videos on YouTube. 3D printed steering wheel, scratch built stick shifter and Hobby Design resin seats which I removed the head rest. Wanted something different for the interior colour, so decided to use 50:50 mix of Ammo by Mig Medium Rust and Dark Rust to achieve a redish brown (chestnut??). Floor colour is Ammo by Mig Chipping. As per usual the colour shift was applied over a gloss black base. Removed the moulded in lower grill to open the lower opening of the front bumper. I 3D printed the wheels, the files were sourced from Dirty Customs. I up scaled them to 19's and used Aoshima cambered tyres for the ultra low profile B pillar window frame was removed to achieve more of a hard top coupe look. Shaved the door handle and filled the pocket. Also filled the quarter panel vents. Filled in the fuel cap door. Edited August 1 by Cool Hand 12 1
Zippi Posted July 31 Posted July 31 That's one Bad looking Camaro there Luke. That interior color looks really deep and rich in color. Super nice looking dude. 1
MeatMan Posted July 31 Posted July 31 Very nice work!! Beautiful stance with nice wheels. I like how the caps match the interior color. I've been mixing colors for a couple of years trying to get that interior color. I've been using burnt orange as a base. I think I'll cop your mix. 1
Mike 1017 Posted July 31 Posted July 31 LUV that paint job. I am going to consider a Color Shift for my WIP 2005 Chrysler 300 C 1
karbuildr Posted July 31 Posted July 31 Nice, really nice build. Excellent interior and beautiful paint. 1
espo Posted August 1 Posted August 1 Beautiful looking paint finish and color. The body mods really clean up the body lines. The stance along with the wheel & tires look great. 1
STU111 Posted August 4 Posted August 4 G’day Luke, that looks sweet. 👍🏻 I’m curious about the colour shift paints, do you clear them? Or does that ruin the effect? 1
Cool Hand Posted August 5 Author Posted August 5 (edited) Thank you very much to all who commented, much appreciated. 22 hours ago, STU111 said: I’m curious about the colour shift paints, do you clear them? Or does that ruin the effect? Yeah I always use this for all my clear coats Clear coat does change the appearance a little bit. It brings out the pearl pigments and reflects light. More than anything with colour shifts, its all about the type of light and viewing angle. The Quasar is a subtle shift compared to others in the SMS Extreme series. The difference you maybe seeing from my wip thread to here, is the camera. Phone camera for wip and Sony Cyber Shot digital camera for under glass images. Edited August 5 by Cool Hand
