VanGoGo Posted August 11 Posted August 11 (edited) Just a few minor details left, but took pics because today is such a nice day outside. This is an old Revell Kit from 1977, took a little TLC get stuff to fit, one thing that was really disappointing about this kit is the split body with an upper and lower half...which creates unsightly seams. I give props to those who properly fix this by cutting the lower body section from the pan, then attach it to the upper body section and fill the seams...but I just didn't have it in me to put that much work into this kit. I 'made' some custom 'benz wheels' from my parts stash, and other than that pretty much box stock. enjoy~ EDIT: I added a couple pics with the front bumper, and an engine shot~ Edited Tuesday at 05:36 PM by VanGoGo added photos 17
Rich Chernosky Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Vince...having done this kit and performed the modification you listed....I think you did an outstanding job. Your door fit is amazing. Paint looks great and I don't see any of that seam in the pictures. Are you going to put the bumpers on or just leave them off ? 1
Gluebomber Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Really nice work, Vince. I appreciate the fact that you used the vintage Revell kit and not the usual Tamiya. Your mods and paint look great and I don't see any sign of the body seam. Great Job! 1

Thank you, I looked at your car before I started mine, and can appreciate all the work you put into it. It did take a bit of filing on the doors and body seams to get them nicer...maybe thats why I got lazy and didnt cut up the body XD. I decided to 'pin' the front bumper, so holes have been drilled and glue is drying, (it seemed like the bumper really had no support if I just glued it to the body as the kit suggested). It does look 'sportier' without the bumper, but they look nice on the car. 1
Zippi Posted Tuesday at 11:44 AM Posted Tuesday at 11:44 AM I've always liked the looks of the 55 Mercedes Benz 300SL Gull Wing. Great looking build. 1
bbowser Posted Tuesday at 09:05 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:05 PM Very nice! Not an easy build but you did it justice. 1

Ragtop Man Posted Wednesday at 05:57 PM Posted Wednesday at 05:57 PM Is this the 1/12? I'm not recalling a Revell Gullwing in 1/24... 1

Cosmic D Posted Thursday at 05:07 PM Posted Thursday at 05:07 PM Your nice paint job and choice of color really complements this build. 1
