The first time I saw a truck like this, I honestly thought that someone really messed up on their math, while figuring out the back spacing, when they ordered their new wheels. Now I see many trucks like this, so I suppose it will be sticking around for a while. It doesn’t look right to my eye at all. Is it even legal to have tires sticking out this far? Maybe it will prevent the truck from rolling over sideways?

It's a look I am not a fan of..and the fact the side wall is less than 1/2 the tread face as well. I call most of the trucks like this... pavement princesses.

I know a few folks take them out in the mud and dirt, but the princesses drive me nuts. And when I was getting my license ages ago, this was illegal as all get out, and now here we are.. no mud flaps no fender extensions, just a look that is not pleasant.

If they had big fat tires with tons of side wall, and fenders that show chips from rocks from mud and gravel.. that would be cool. (Call it my age showing lol)

Has to be illegal, but nobody enforces any automotive laws, rules or regulations anymore.  When my GF sees these on the road she says "sorry about your (insert male sexual organ name here)".  She says these are driven by guys who have feelings of inadequacy. They need to reinforce their manliness by driving these vehicles.  One thing missing in that truck are a pair of tall exhaust stacks behind the cab spewing black diesel smoke.

Every fad finally fades away, but this one has been sticking around for some time.

I absolutely hate them. Take a SEVENTY THOUSAND DOLLAR truck and make it useless. Sound financial decision.  Not to mention after all the work, you're left with the same truck as the other guy. Building any vehicle used to be about originality. Park any three of these things in a line, all the same except color. And don't get me started with dodge/ram guys and tow mirrors.

Some of the squatted trucks around here have these 'things' that hang from their tow hitch, that look like......... well.... um........... like a 'pair' of uh, male parts!

Dirty danglers. They gotta add them 'cause the trucks got none.

Not my taste but fair play for having a go. Most of the big power diesels i've seen on the dyno have this kinda style. its not even a new style, its been around since the 70s on cars

At least this looks good.

They have had a bunch of these trucks invading the rod runs at Pigeon Forge for the past few years and have recently passed laws in Tennessee making squatted trucks illegal. Back in the spring at the rod run they started enforcing the laws and towing trucks/fining owners. Not only is it stupid looking but it is unsafe as well.

Same thing for dark window tint. Seems the police lost control of enforcing the tint laws. One thing is for sure, almost every time someone is cutting someone off, or just driving like a moron, they seem to have the darkest tint on their vehicle. It’s like a mask, a bank robber would wear.

I know a person that had bought a new truck, and the nice rims and tires that came on it, just weren’t good enough. Now, I understand, anyone can spend their money the way they choose, but don’t buy four rims and tires, and spend a few grand, and then go on FB and complain about gas prices! Some people are NEVER grateful for what they have. They want more more more, and then bitch and moan. I don’t personally know of anyone, that is “struggling” but man when they talk, you think they were very poor. Yet they buy new vehicles, go on several vacations a year, then bitch about the prices or the economy. Don’t make sense to me.

In most states the truck won't pass inspection with the tires sticking out like that.  So the owner has to keep a set of compliant wheels and tires around to switch onto the truck for the inspection.  Or buy a sticker, but with newer vehicles you still have to take it in and hook it up to the diagnostic equipment to ensure it still has emissions gear in place and functional.  Then back home for a wheel/tire change so you can get back to slinging slop down the sides of the truck.

As for people crying poor, you often run into them at swap meets or train/toy shows.  Got their cap and jacket from the casino (how much did he lose to get those?), got season tickets for one of the local sports teams.  But to spend an extra few bucks for something at a swap meet, it's like you are asking them to sacrifice their first born.

New Hampshire just got rid of the annual car safety inspections.
Drive any car you want in any condition. Old wreck with fenders falling off and bald tires?  Sure, it's ok.  A Monster truck with huge tires sticking out? Why not! It will be interesting to see how that works out after couple of years.  I doubt that cops will start enforcing safety laws any more than they have been not doing already. Live free or and die.

We haven't had "safety" inspections for decades, but we do have increasingly stringent emissions inspections.

The "safety" inspections were, frankly, a joke...so why bother?

I had to ride to a job with this kid once........ He had huge off-road tires on a little s10. Going down the road, you could hear the rubber coming off of the tires and hitting the sides of the truck. After about two miles, you could Smell the tires! I was thinking, he probably spent good money for those tires just to ruin them on the highway...............

In PA, we pay $40 plus dollars to check a $10 gas cap.

Yes, tires aren’t cheap. Reminds me of the cars I see with rims and tires that were never designed to fit a vehicle, with a maximum amount of negative camber to get them under the fenders.

My truck (2007 Chevy) will stay with stock rims and tires for it's life.

The Rims are sharp looking, and it rides and drives just fine as it is.

I want to add a Brush Guard/Push Bumper and mount Fog Lights but that is about it as far as mods go.

I'm too old to want to fool around with "Cool" looks anymore.

If I want Cool, I'll build a model of it.

I can only imagine the structual stress on the bearings, bolts, joints and steering caused by fitting such ridiculously wide spacers.
