89AKurt Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Here is your chance to get this fabulous Ferrari GTO, the only white one, raced by the only Triple Crown winner. Does the forum allow a betting pool, like how much will it cross the block for?
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 14 Posted November 14 (edited) Just in time, as I was having difficulty deciding what to get myself for Christmas. Whew. That was close. Edited November 15 by Ace-Garageguy punctiliousness 7

iamsuperdan Posted November 16 Posted November 16 . A "normal" 250 GTO already sells for $25-35 mil, so something this unique? $50 mill easy. 2
Brudda Posted November 17 Posted November 17 Ok the last 250 on the auction block was $42,000,000. The private sale of the silver 250 was bought privately for $72,000,000. So $100,000,000 is possible. History, history, history is everything. …. For instance take a regular 1965 mustang fastback. It sells for this much. If Carroll Shelby put his number on that car what is it worth now? Carroll Shelby has history. And if a famous race car driver raced or owned that car it goes up in price. History. Yeah $100,000,000 is possible. 2

I'm going to have to give this one a pass, because there's just no way I can get a Christmas tree that's big enough to get the thing under into the house. That's my story and I'm sticking with it. 2 1
Brudda Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Cool , a bidders contest. Kurt I believe you are close. $88,000,000 is more reasonable but the rich are not so much. I have seen the craziness of billionaires. Unreal. If two ego maniacs go at it , the price will be crazy. I just worked on a Ferrari splitter front lower bumper on a challenge 296 car yesterday. I told them it was just about impossible to repair. The price of a lower splitter is around $7500. If you can find one . And you cannot right now. So he said I do not care what it costs, can you have it done by Monday? So the bill is around $10,000 and he is glad to pay it. Insane? Probably but who says the billionaires are sane. So attach this mentality to bidding on a very rare and beautiful car. If egos go insane , who knows what it will bring. A billionaire told me at laguna that he will spend around $100,000 for three days of playing with race cars. Three days?……he told me his car prep, mechanics, catering people, shipping cars , renting laguna seca etc, etc around $100,000. To me it’s crazy , to him it was a great weekend. 1

I'm laughing because *I know right?* Same with houses, places such as Jackson Hole WY is insane to exist in, can't imagine being a service worker. Prescott is becoming such a haven, and don't get me going. I enjoyed seeing your posts about your awful job /sarc off/ and hope you don't stroke out, sticking it out while you can. I hated my career at the end. Wasn't there a Steve McQueen car, the reserve was higher than everyone thought was insane and it didn't sell. Don't tell anyone, but I know the owner of Ferrari #1, was shown at Palm Springs a couple decades ago, he has had insane offers but will die with it, there is a son. 😏 So I believe you 100%.

Well, I'm glad he's enjoying his money on something I approve of, and would do if I could. I well remember that 2 days racing three old Abarths and a Spridget in SCCA at Sebring put a serious strain on the shop budget. We drove all night towing our own cars, one inside a Merita bread van converted to a mobile shop/sleeping quarters, another one behind it, another one behind an Olds Toronado, and I forget what the other tow car was. The shop owner stayed at Motel 6 for a better night's rest. But I had the cutest little girlfriend on the planet at the time, she didn't mind camping in the van, and to me, it was a GREAT weekend, and I couldn't begin to imagine a better one no matter how much money I could burn.
