Jordan White Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Does Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls count? Most of the ones mentioned so far are great, don't care to rename them all though.
styromaniac Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 I can't believe nobody's mentioned "to live and die in LA".....That movie had a great chase sequence... Some of those scenes were epic.......Cars comming from all angles, chasing after William Petersen and his buddy... Hi Jeff- Right You Are...that was a great move...I own the DVD.
caine440 Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 (edited) I go with the old school Vanishing point and bullitt. I'll throw in Brewster McCloud with the chase that included (my favorite) 1970 Roadrunner, 70 1/2 Z28, AMC Gremlin X, and finally a Fury police car. Add one of the strangest and I thought funniest endings ever and for once the Mopar is not wrecked at the end. Dirty Mary & Crazy Larry is also up on my list. Edited October 12, 2009 by caine440
tuffone20 Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 My all time favorite's are Bullitt, Ronin, Vanishing point oh and Dirty Mary & Crazy Larry. There are a lot of other ones that are good, but those are the ones I like the most. Marty
FloridaBoy Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 My vote for best and worst, or at least most memorable was the chase scene in Cobra, a not so good movie starring Sylvester Stallone back in the eighties, and featured his trick 49 Merc, and took it through Frisco jumping all over the place. The bad thing is that it wrecked a perfectly good rod from the bottom up. I guess it is also memorable because it was probably the only redeeming part of the movie, and that the supermarket scene was copied in real life a week later by some thug, and the endings were the same. He was shot while terrorizing the place. Ken "FloridaBoy" Willaman
ismaelg Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 CARS, when the Sheriff is chasing McQueen. The sheriff is backfiring and McQueen believes he's been shooting at, so he takes "serpentine" evasive maneuvers making the Sheriff say "Blue Blaze, crazy hot rodder!" and presses harder into the chase Toy Story 1 with the moving van Toy Story 2 with the pizza delivery pickup chasing the chicken man to the airport and the horse chasing the airplane The Incredibles motorhome scene, not exactly a chase but cool I'm not much into movies or even TV for that matter, but one of my favorites has to be Cannonball's opening chase of the Lambo (best opening of a movie) and the later chase of the same Lambo by a female police officer "Hello hot pants! I suppose you have a driver's license stuck in there somewhere, do you?" Thanks,
Greg Cullinan Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 I'm with Steve, Transporter 1. All of them had good chase scenes tho.
JayC Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 (edited) Right now, the one that comes to mind is Duel. That would probably be my favorite. That semi was pretty cool. A close second would probably be the made-for-TV movie Wheels of Terror. That was one evil, bad*** looking Charger in that movie! Edited October 12, 2009 by JayC
Rob Hall Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Another recent movie chase I thought of that I liked was 'Joy Ride'... the Mopar vs. evil truck scenario was reminicent of Duel.
Rob Hall Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Rob, if you havent seen it yet watch the movie "Jade" with David Caruso. pretty cool chase in that movie with a 5.0 Mustang GT driven by Caruso taking a very dramatic barrel roll down one of the hills in San Francisco. another cool one using those hills was the Hummer and Ferrari chase in "The Rock". no one has mentioned the cool chase in "Demolition man" with the Olds 442 chasing cars in the future yet. there has also been some nice chases in some Steven Seagal movies as well. what about the Porcshe 911 and Sunbeam Alpine chase in "Commando"? Dave Ah, yeah..I remember all of those... Jade in some places reminded me an homage to 'Bullitt' w/ the San Fran settings. The Mustang in that reminded me of my 1:1. R
Joe Handley Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Just thought of another one, the Barricade chasing Bumblebee in the first Transformers movie!
Nick Winter Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 The Italian Job. Not just the car chases, but the boat chases too! The Blues Brothers wasn't bad, either... Well I have alway's liked the Dukes of Hazzard every Epsiode had a chase, the A team was also similar, Starsky and Hutch, Gone in 60 Seconds the original, The Blues Brothers
FujimiLover Posted October 13, 2009 Author Posted October 13, 2009 (edited) It seems like the two most popular chase scenes are Ronin and Original Gone in 60 Seconds! WoW! How about J.B.'s "The Man With The Golden Gun" where Roger Moore chases the bad guy and he jumps over the river doing a barrel role! Edited October 13, 2009 by FujimiLover
Rick Schmidt Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Terminator 3. When the TX commandeers herself a heavy crane when she gets after Connor and Kate Brewster. That TX didn't care what that thing hit. And then that look on her face when she realizes the hook is in the road .... T2 had a pretty good one too A big rig wrecker after a Dirt bike.
charlie8575 Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 The chase in Cars was cool, too. Hell, the whole movie was. It's one of my favorites. On the subject of Bond, I can't remember the film, but it was the two AMCs going through Bangkok, Thailand. That was actually pretty funny to watch. One that's not a chase, but a great crash scene was the movie Hoodwinked, a parady of Little Red Riding Hood. In this movie, Twitchy the squirrel jumps in front of three police cars, causing a horrible collision. It's hilarious! If you have not seen that movie, buy it! It's worth every cent, and you will laugh almost non-stop! Charlie Larkin
randx0 Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 (edited) nobody wants to admit watching C.H.iP.s just for the crashes? And my goodness people the best hands down chase scene has got to be the Steve Mcqueen motorcycle sequence in The Great Escape. Edited October 13, 2009 by randx0
samdiego Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 my favorite car movie, Bikini Beach. best described as a whacky car chase with hot rods chasing a twin engined go-kart

Those were great scenes. My favorite movie is Jurassic Park, and while it is only "half" car chase I really liked when the tyrannosaur chased the Jeep.

Ya, down the through the LA river..great chase. Another great chase in T2 is near the end, with the tanker truck, delivery van and S10 pickup. I still love the tension of that sequence, when the tanker truck turns around.. I haven't watched T3 in a while, my least favorite of the trilogy..I recall a good chase w/ a Caddy hearse, IIRC. The Bourne films had some good chases, esp. the 2nd one w/ the Lada and Merc G class in Russia. Edited October 13, 2009 by Rob Hall

Joe Handley Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Haven't seen the movie yet, but Taken is suppposed to have one nasty car chase where Liam Niesen is driving a Jeep Cherokee.
Rob Hall Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Haven't seen the movie yet, but Taken is suppposed to have one nasty car chase where Liam Niesen is driving a Jeep Cherokee. It does. The movie is a bit formulaic, but it's fun seeing Neeson being a badazz.
Rob Hall Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 the Lethal Weapon movies do have some good chases. not sure which one, but there is one that did the rollback tow truck jump thing way better than they did in the remake of Gone in 60 Seconds. one of those movies has the chase that goes through a building as well, pretty cool! another very cool car chase in in the movie "Fled" where a limo chases down one of the Baldwin brothers and another guy on Ducati 916's. Dave There were a couple good chases IIRC in Lethal Weapon 4, one involving a little Grand Am vs. a Merc S class. I liked the chase in Die Hard 3 w/ the Merc S class (a car similar to my old beast). The chases in Die Hard 4 were ruined by too much obvious CGI, IMHO.
Brendan Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 I can't believe nobody mentioned Steve McQueen in Le Mans, especially at the very end of the movie. It's a racing movie. I consider it getting chased.
