Chuck Most Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 How I spent the weekend- This is the 'new' AMT kit, with a '64/65 Revell hood, and a long bed, front and rear bumpers, and grille from an old resin kit. I lowered it, added the custom wheels and tires from a '60 Ford Starliner, and dropped in a 5.7 Liter Hemi from a junked '05 Chrysler 300C.
Nick Winter Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 (edited) Despite all the mixing this is really nice Chuck. BTW Chuck is aware that i don't like crossbred trucks Edited May 3, 2010 by Dukefan69'
MikeeD Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 The paint and patina is perfect! That's the way REAL street projects look! Toolbox is a neat touch, I like that.
John Teresi Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 (edited) Cool!...... weathering is perfect. Edited May 4, 2010 by JOHN TERESI
rustybill1960 Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 B) IT'S GREAT CHUCK!!!! REALLY GREAT!!!! i like it a lot Man ! thank you for sharing later Russ
charlie8575 Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Nice weathering job on that, Chuck. I'll bet a lot of Chevy guys' gears are really grinding at the thought of a Chrysler engine powering one of their pickups. It amuses me. *I'm more-or-less a GM guy, for the record. Dr. Cranky Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Beautiful work, Chuck. It's one of my favorite of your builds. I love old trucks, ratty and rivetted with charm!
David G. Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Great weathering and I love the mix-n-match style. Here in Phoenix, we see a fair number of old trucks from the 60's and 70's driving around, and that's how many of them look. You really nailed it!
retrobuilder Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 cool beans!! is that an original bed from the 60's version of the chevy pickup? do they make resin copies of the bed? thanks. Rich.
RatRod Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Good job making all the parts fit Chuck!!! The patina looks perfect!!!
Chuck Most Posted May 4, 2010 Author Posted May 4, 2010 cool beans!! is that an original bed from the 60's version of the chevy pickup? do they make resin copies of the bed? thanks. Rich. The bed, grille, and bumpers are resin repops of the old AMT pieces- I'm not 100% sure who made them, but I have seen resin kits based on the old AMT annual Chevy truck kits, so I suppose they're out there.
dimaxion Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Looks like "yeah , it's gotta Hemi" . Definatly a low budget Street Rod . A Rat Rod in 30 more years . Nice ..Thanx ..
RodBurNeR Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 I do like everything about it ,other than the engine...it shocked me haha! So this is a vintage long bed on a newer issue '60? I never thought about doing that. I have an original '60 with a bad cab...hmmm thanks for the idea!
Eric Stone Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Ya had me all the way up to the Hemi... Looks great, though.
Chuck Most Posted May 7, 2010 Author Posted May 7, 2010 Ya had me all the way up to the Hemi... Looks great, though. You'd have really hated the first engine I test fitted into it, a dual quad Mercury 410...
W-409 Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Yes, it looks real. Nicely done! But i don't like that engine, i mean it's too new. It doesn't fit very well to that old rusty look. But it's good anyway.
