janositamas Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 Hi guys, let me present my 458 Italia just finished. Nothing fancy, out of the box except from seatbelts and emblems:
John Teresi Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 WOW!!!!......excellent build......great color Too!!!!
Foxer Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Very nice! .. paint looks smooth enough to fly!
Raul_Perez Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Very nice!! It's hard to beat the look of a well built red Ferrari!! Thanks for sharing,
Sixties Sam Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 I can't say I'm a fan of exotic sports cars, but that Ferrari is really nice! Red is the ONLY color for a Ferrari, in my opinion. Great build! Sam
chris coller Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Very nice work. I like the styling on the car as well. Very sleek and slick at the same time.
Lownslow Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 keep an eye on it they seem to randomly catch on fire
Zoom Zoom Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Nice work! Did you work on the front brakes/suspension location? Looks like your front calipers are bigger than what came in my kit, and the wheels look properly centered. And yeah, make sure you used rivets instead of adhesive for the rear splash pan heat shields, or your 458 might blow up

A Ferrari spokesperson told CNNMoney.com has that the luxury supercar is being recalled in order to make modifications to the wheelhouse assembly. "In rare instances the heat shield could become deformed, bringing it too close to the exhaust system and igniting," a Ferrari spokesperson said. Edited September 2, 2010 by sjordan2
Jim Gibbons Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Beautiful, clean build. Very nice. It just goes to show you that the American car manufacturers are NOT behind the times; Pintos were doing that 35 years ago! (Just kidding...I'm NOT putting down US cars!)

There is something bizarre about a heat shield... catching fire! It's like the fire extinguisher bursting into flames.
Joe Handley Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 (edited) There is something bizarre about a heat shield... catching fire! It's like the fire extinguisher bursting into flames. Some of the post '99 4.0l Jeeps had that problem too, apparently the heat shields separating the exhaust header from the intake system had a habit of holding flammable junk between itself and the header......IIRC they were installed because of some federally mandated recall to prevent the risk of the header starting things on fire Edited September 3, 2010 by Joe Handley
janositamas Posted September 3, 2010 Author Posted September 3, 2010 Thank you guys for the feedback! ZoomZoom, I didn't touch the front brakes or the calipers, so I may be only lucky with my kit comparing to yours I guess. Still I'm not satisfied with the color of the discs, they supposed to be much darker I think, I might repaint them sooner or later!
sjordan2 Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 By the way, despite the mini-hijack about burning Ferraris, this is a wonderful build. Nice, clean and precise like all the other things you've showed us.
MILD Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 You might be needing one of these: With that out of the way, I'd love to know how you achieved such a smooth look with the paint. I'm guessing it was rubbed out at each stage (primer / colour / clear)? If you could share the recipe I'd be much appreciative.
crispy Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 Another fantastic stunning clean build jano! Chris
