They may look similar(?) but the AMC 232 was all new in 1964 and the 258 (1971) that was in jeeps was basically a stroked 232. The 4.0 litre (1987) in later Jeeps was an evolution of the 258. early Rambler Later AMC 232 Are there any kits that would have the 4.0 litre? The Tamiya Jeep Wrangler kits have the 4.0 litre six.
crazyjim Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 The Galaxie 1948 Chevy sedan delivery kit has a straight 6. I replaced it with a big block.

Hard to tell if its just a poor V8 valve cover or not. ? Comparison with other 1/25 valve covers, AMT '37 Chevy I6 Offenhauser at bottom...sorry, blurry image: I would think that it is definitely a straight six cover? From what kit I have no idea.

I think it is from the JO-HAN Ford Maverick kit. The part box I found it in also had JO-HAN Ford Maverick wheels (both promo and kit), tail light bezel, etc. and after looking at one eBay listing, it appears the valve cover does has some type of script on top. Have to keep looking for a better image, though.

Classicgas Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 (edited) Loves me a 6. Sure wish Okey Spaulding had that Maverick tool. Edited February 23, 2021 by Classicgas

Classicgas Posted February 24, 2021 Posted February 24, 2021 It looks like a pretty nice engine for the vintage.

It appears to be slightly better than other similar era offerings. The Flacon/Comet display I6 engine Chris posed earlier in this topic appears a bit clunkier, with more molded-in-place parts, so given the choice, I'd go with the JO-HAN version. Missing Link currently offers a resin cast version of the Falcon/Comet I6: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Resin-1-25-60s-Ford-Mercury-170-6-cylinder-Mustang-Falcon-Comet-missing-link/294028127236?hash=item4475712c04:g:WKQAAOSwjvJZPsv9

Thanks for the idea Casey!
Classicgas Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 Mike, I don't think the Falcon/Comet 6 is correct for a Bronco, but the one in the Mobius Ford pickups would be.
Fabrux Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 The Falcon 6 is the correct engine for the Revell Early Bronco. The Moebius engine is the Truck Six and is bigger and doesn't fit in the Bronco.
Classicgas Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 I stand corrected sir. I figured it was a truck based vehicle therefore it would have a truck 6.
Fabrux Posted March 2, 2021 Posted March 2, 2021 I tried the swap and couldn't figure out why the hood wasn't closing... ??♂️

The truck motor started out as a 240 and was later a 300 CI and used into the late 80's/mid 90's.

slusher Posted December 8, 2021 Posted December 8, 2021 I wish they would have put one in the 69 Barracuda..
