I think that Miss Deal is a classic kit, and is really only Miss Deal if painted blue and green. However, I wanted a twist on those colors, so did a Swirladelic paint job, my first since 1974, when I was just 14. I am pleased how it came out, although seeing as this is a funny car, I would have liked the swirls a bit bolder. It is painted with Testors Sublime Green and Bright Blue enamels, with Testors One Coat Clear to finish it. Chris

THAT PAINT IS AMAZING!!! How someone can paint like that... Paint is nice, smooth and shiny too. Engine is looking very good too, great detailing on it. This is very good looking Miss Deal FC, I have built one too, but that was a bit of fail. Yours looks very good! :)

That is a trip, Man! A nostalgia trip! :D Very cool!

There is an old Car Model Magazine from the early 70s in which Hank Borger shows how to do the "Swirladelic" paintjob. It basically involves placing the body in a bread pan and covering it with water. You then spray onto the top of the water the colors you want and using a stick, swirl them around until you get the desired effect. You then lift the body out of the water and the paint drapes itself over the body. A few coats of clear and wetsanding and polishing finishes it off.

Your Miss Deal looks terrific, Chris. Love the paint.

Somewhere on this forum I posted the article from Car Model magazine. If you can't find it the post, let me know and I can post it again or PM to you.
