It think it looks kinda Porscheish. Looks they flattened the roof out a bit, but that's about it. It looks ok. I like it.:mellow::huh:

A top-chopped, sectioned Beetle from the factory! :D

Who knew? B)

Funny you say that, I was thinking the same thing.

Actually, to be honest, I rather like it.

I was thinking more of a swollen Audi TT, at least from that rear 3/4 shot. I'll have to let it soak in before I know if I like it or not... (I mean the New New Beetle, I like the TT. B) )

Looks like a shiny confused turtle.

I was thinking more of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, at least from that rear 3/4 shot. I'll have to let it soak in before I know if I like it or not... (I mean the New New Beetle, I like TMNT. :) )

On first blush I have only one thing to say....and it is the same thing I said when I first saw the PT Cruiser...."you will never see one of these in my driveway". Personally I am wondering, why is VW screwing around with these "Even-Newer Beetles" in the first place. They were an important, groundbreaking vehicle in the 40's, 50's and 60's....got their encore with the "New Beetle", now let it rest in peace. Their time has come and gone and come and gone again....give it a rest. It kind of reminds me of Bret Farve.....he, and it should have remained retired. :);):D

So, what you're saying is VW needs to quit reaching into the past for styling cues, and instead develop a ground-breaking new car that will be worthy of inspiring 'retro' cars 50 years from now? Sounds like a good idea to me! Sadly, though, I think the golden age of automotive styling ended a long, long time ago. :)

It almost looks like a chopped and laid-out PT cruiser from the 3/4 rear view. I don't think I like it........maybe if it had some more Porsche 911 styling elements to it?

I like the flatter roofline, and the fact that the car will be "Americanized". As in "fat butt" :D

One thing that struck me on this car was that the proportions seemed closer to the original Beetles than the current model. When I showed this link to a couple co-workers, one of more or less said the same thing without me mentioning it in the first place.

I found this comparing the Original Beetle to the New Beetle

Then found this comparing the New New Beetle to an early Porsche

I'll be honest, I kinda like the looks of the the 2012 and think it would probably look really good with fadeaway fenders and some other traditional Kustomizing (yes, I ment to put that K there ;) ) done to it!

Maybe kinda like this :)

Ive always liked driving the beetle, even though it's a chick car (never admitted that before). I could drive the new one without being too embarrassed.

I think VAG killed any "macho" feel to the car by adding a flower vase to the dash... or at least it didn't help. What's next? The Maxipad Edition?

I think that was a hold over form the early days of the original car, not too sure if that goes all the way back to Hitler's involvment though.

It's OK for GM, Ford & Chrysler to do it with the Camaro, Mustang & Challenger but not OK for VW to do it with the Bug ????? :D:rolleyes: It's called Marketing, what was old is new again.
