crazyjim Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 It's not fair! You guys are getting the latest issue and talking about it and I don't have my copy yet. maybe tomorrow it'll be here. Or Friday. Or Saturday. Darn. I wish #155 would get here already.
Dragracer Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Recieved mine on Monday, perfect condition,I also liked the ad for the carbon fiber decals, the way it was laid out & the pictures on the side, well done!, I also enjoyed the Teresi article, the only thing wrong was not enough pictures! Great Issue!
Terry Sumner Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Got mine today too. Not bad...had some good stuff. I especially liked Tim Boyd's visit to the Model Car Museum. But he has a small mistake there...in the caption under the photo of Mike Johnson's Pegasus, he states that museum staff located Mike and secured the loan of the model to the museum. Not entirely true...unless I'm considered Museum Staff!(lol) 'Twas I who located Mike Johnson. You see, I had volunteered to clone the Pegasus model for the museum's Clone The Past program. In getting started there was little documentation to view so I decided to try and find the original builder. Took some time but I was able to find him in the Vegas area. We even talked on the phone a couple of times. Then he and Mark G got together to arrange for the loan of the model. That was pretty cool and I didn't have to clone the model. Good thing because those bubble shaped glass parts were actually the glass from the LevaCar kits, which are of course rarer than hen's teeth nowadays! And now I feel a little tiny bit of pride knowing I at least made a very small contribution to the museum by making it possible for the Pegasus to get placed there.

Foxer Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Did I mention how much I enjoyed (or am enjoying) this issue? I may get in a building rut doing a lot of the same 1/25 plastic cars, but I really enjoy the variety in this magazine. I can't wait to see the diecasts that Wayne Moyer comes up with and read his wonderful comments. I was happy to finally see photos of the Kurtis Midget Offy engine! The Scratchbuilding School articles have been interesting and worthy since they've started. Jairus' Rat Rod article made me laugh ... he's about as anchored in his thinking as all those traditional Hot Rod guys .. but I totaly enjoyed the article! Tim Boyd's Museum tour was welcome and fascinating in it's photo coverage. Despite my comment on Brad Leisure's (or Harry's) channel, I have to say he went the extra mile with his depiction of the sectioning required! ok .. that's as far as I've gotten so far ...
jeff ewaskey Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 My copy of #155 came yesterday afternoon. Now my world is complete as I am officially an MCM subscriber. Bought one issue at LHS and not long after reading it sent in my order. Awesome magazine, wish I would have discovered it a long time ago.
Gregg Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Thanks, Guys! And Harry, I should have caught that one too. Most of the time I am reading the proofs the old-fashioned way, backwards! Yes, matches me perfectly, but that's the way I was taught way back when. As for dissing me, yes, I won't sit down and take it anymore, or rather, lay down. Everyone knows my situation, and if you continue to bash me, I will ban, delete, and send you to forever never never land. Golden Bell Press does not pay for, run, administer, monitor, moderate, or otherwise participate in this online forum. I have set this up, paid for, and managed it as a courtesy to those who are considered by me and others as a part of the MCM Ohana. Every single penny that has gone into this forum has come from my own pockets. No one else's. If you want to cancel your subscription, I have said before, fine, I will personally send you a cashier's check in the amount of your complete original subscription cost to you. Just send me an email to gregg@modelcarsmag.com. I will not stand for the dissing anymore. Please show some respect for someone who bends over backwards for each and every one of you.... Well, it's a figure of speech (not free speech, mind you), I wish I could bend backwards (my ROM is -0 degrees)
Steven Zimmerman Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Got mine yesterday. Great magazine. Wish it came out weekly. And, Gregg?....Thanks for the forum, it starts my day Everyday.'nuff said.........theZman

Terry....thanks for the info; I had not heard that (or maybe I did and long ago forgot it). You have every reason to be proud....locating the work of Mike, Augie, Dave Shuklis, and others of these iconic early model car builders added immensely to the credibility of the museum and I am sure prompted many of the contributions from other builders later on. Best regards....TIM

I also want to thank you for not taking the dissing anymore as well. (Ban 'em) I was getting tired of people griping that the mag was late, and all the negative talk as well, and I am so thankful that you keep it coming (the mag), nuff said on that subject. mikemodeler Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Hopefully I will see my issue here soon but I am convinced they pass it around the post office before putting it in my mailbox! Sounds like some good articles in it, can't wait to hold it in my hands.

george 53 Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Got what was left of mine Yesterday. The last 4 pages were torn in half, so my issue ended around page 56! I called the nice lady at Golden Bell, explained my situation, and she gladly offered to send me a new one. So, I'm happy, but I'm just wondering if THIS NEW issue will be mutilated too? That is my only complaint. I don't even CARE if it comes late, as LONG as i get what I PAID for, but this constantly torn issues, little tears. rips and WHOLE pages torn off is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. GB has ALREADY replaced at least 3 issues since this time last year. THAT is what keeps printing costs up there, the fact that they have to REPLACE damaged issues. The Post Office couldn't care less,I GUESS they got more important things to worry about than customers getting their mail UNDAMAGED!!!!!!
mikemodeler Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 George, The problem is most likely with the way the mag gets feed thru their sorting machines at the PO. I agree that it is a shame that GB has to send replacement copies and it adds to the cost but at least they are willing to do that. IIRC when I requested replacement copies they were sent in an envelope so they didn't get shredded a second time! It has been discussed on here countless times before that the paper that MCM is printed on may play a part in the damages that occur to it. Speaking for myself, very rarely do any of my other magazines show up with any damage on them compared to MCM and I believe it may be due to the difference in the paper material used by Golden Bell Press.
Chaz Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 GOT #155 IN THE MAIL YESTERDAY, BEAT TO 4377, BENT AND TORN PAGES. STILL WAITING FOR #154. HOPE IT'S NOT BEAT UP. THANK YOU USPS.
peter31a Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 Woohoo! Got #154 today! Looks like a very good issue. Now anxiously waiting for #155. Should see it some time in early March.
whale392 Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Went down to one of my local Hobby Shops versus HobbyTown USA today. They had the AMT K123 re-issues when HobbyTown didn't. Also got #154 and #155! Both great issues. This is why I get a little miffed when I can't find them/stores don't have them. They are a good magazine, and not being able to get it is aggrevating. I am glad I got them today and have already read through both. Looking forward to the next installment. And Gregg/Harry: You both do a great job with the magazine and with the forum. Thanks to you two (and others here who make it work) for both and providing a second opinion/outlet for the styrene disease/addiction.
Jon Cole Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Finally recieved # 155 a few days ago. Somewhat mutilated, but at least nothing is missing. I guess I can read it as is, but I've lost interest in it as a result. I will try again later.
