Chris, we get caught up in the details (trees) sometimes....take a minute and look at YOUR pic of the "whole car" and enjoy what you've created for a moment. That's so sharp...............................okay, times up, now get back to work! ;) Tim

I like the look of the tins myself. Maybe due to the photo's or just my eye it looks like a mild hammer finish but as i said that could just be my eye. But I like it whatever !

Darryl... Thank you for the kind words.

Bill... I will give that a try and see what it looks like.

Tim... You are right that we can get caught up in the small details of things. I think I have done that with just about ever little piece on this project because I am trying to make it perfect in my eyes. I have to agree that it does look pretty neat seeing the whole car in that one pic. I am seeing the progress and can't wait to see more of it done and painted. I now need to focus on some of the other little details... like the bell housing... I need to add a clutch pedal and stuff on that so I can get primer and paint on it. I also have been doing minor body work here and there on the body. I really hope to have the body in primer soon. I can't wait to get rid of the white plastic... haha.

Tyrone... Thank you my friend. I need to be able to build it quicker like you do on your builds. you have it down to a science.

Ray.. Thank you very much. they don't look bad by any means but something about them that I wasn't 100% happy with. Probably since I know the real car the tins aren't a flat color....lol They do look a little different in person than in the pictures.

Chris........what can I say "Little Brother".........looks great but,if your not happy with it........do your thang and paint it the way that makes you a happy camper :)

Hey John... thanks my Big Brother... you know me all too well that I will repaint it... lol. I actually ordered some of the hot rod flatz chassis black, the satin stuff yesterday from TCP Global. I called the manufacture yesterday. I did find out that the hot rod black I have is 30% gloss/70% flat and the chassis black satin is 50% gloss/50% flat. I cant waot to get the new paint and test it out.

They look great Chris...all together it looks killer! But cant wait to see how they finally end up and YOUR happy with it...cause thats all that matters in the end man!

Danno... Thank you my friend.

Dave.... Thank you. You are right that the most importantly is that I am happy with it and its really that all that should matter when we all build.

Well Guys I am going to try and get some bench time in tonight. So hopefully... crossing my fingers that I will have some pics to show my progress I make. Thanks for following along on this long Journey I have created with this build...lol Taking me way too long at this point. B)

Brad... My brother... why thank you. You know how bad I want to finish this one because I have at least a dozen of other 1/16th scale builds I want to share. You don't know how bad I want to start another one but I keep holding myself back so I can finish this one. I think I have some pretty neat builds coming up.

Ok Chris........quit playing around and get back to the bench :P

Fantastic progress Chris, even though some of it is live and learn (not you?). I hope I'm not repeating the obvious, but Scott's cockpit P/E levers are a work of art, but when I got mine I was surprised by the blued reverse side and tried to peel it off like it was rubberized LOL. After asking him, I found out cleaning the part in paint thinner or acetone (if I remember right) would remove the colored side. I only used one piece and foolishly painted the blue side flat aluminum, which ruined the overall effect.

Keep up the good work my friend!

So right John he need to get back at.LOL Chris great work I know it is hard but you are doing a great job on this build buddy, the detail is fantastic. This is going to be a Masterpiece when it is done.

I just went through this whole thread and got all caught up to date. I'm speachless. Truly amazing work. This absolutely awesome. Everytime I looked at new pics my jaw dropped. You are an artist. The detail is already to a "T", and only gonna get better. Can't wait for updates!

John... Thanks my Big Brother... I needed some motivational push ;) . I was hoping to get to the bench yesterday but didn't get to. But I was able to tonight for a couple of hours.

Mitch... Thank you. Oh yeah I live and learn quite a bit... actually all the time on this build... lol. You are right that Scott's parts are a work of art. I think I made my brake lever before I got his photo-etch pieces. yeah that blue stuff is easily removable by tossing the part in Lacquer thinner or acetone. I think I tried sanding it off the first time...haha

Mike... thank you my brother. It has been fun getting back to the bench on this one and seeing that I no longer have to fight the blower with sanding... well almost but at least when I sand it next, it means that it will be getting painted. so that is a good thing.

Randy... Thank you.... well the paint isn't dry yet... ;) Actually I had to order that Hot Rod Flatz Satin Chassis Black and its coming from California so I am hoping to have it early in the week. I keep checking the UPS tracking but it isn't showing anything yet...lol

Clayton... Thank you very much for the kind words and for going thru the whole thread. I know there are a ton of pages to go through. As I have told many people here I have actually pushed my self on this build to take the detail to a level I have never done before. although at this point I think I am probably a little nuts but I was wanting to prove to myself I could do it. It has been fun so far but I am ready to get it done.

oK Fellas... I got a few hours at the bench and I would of thought I would of accomplished more than I did tonight but I can't complain because I made progress. With all of the work on the Tins and Blower I figured I needed a little break from all of that. So I decided to work on the transmission and to be specific the bell housing. I had noticed in the pics that I have that the bell housing needed to be modified just a tad to look like the one in the Army Vega. So that is what I worked on tonight. Here are a few pictures:

Here is the Bell Housing which is a Mark Johnson Resin piece that came with my 426 Elephant Hemi which was purchased from him. I have to tell you if you haven't ordered any engines from him well you need to because he make the best 1/16th scale resin engines in the business:

Here was the start of pieces of plastic that I was cutting, which will be glued to the chamfered end of the bell housing. Now the bell housing in the real car had more of a radius on it as to why I decided to add pieces to this one:

DP-Army-Vega%206436-1_zpslj0lf9u4.jpg

So here is all of the pieces super glued on with the green label Zap-A-Gap CA, and the next step is to sand it all down to shape it:

Well after what seemed like a while, here is the where it is for the night. I will pick it up in the morning. I shaped it all by hand which took a little while. It will need another piece glued to it as you can see in this pic and then I will be adding bondo to make sure everything is nice and smooth:

Here is a shot from the opposite side:

Here is more of a side view of it. Now I am debating if I need to make the radius on the edge a little bigger but I think I should add a coat of primer to see how it looks like that before I go and sand anymore off it:

So the next thing I will be working on is adding the the clutch pedal mount and levers to the bell housing. I think it is going to be fun to get it fabbed up. It will be a mixture of Pro Tech and Future Attraction Photo-Etch parts as well as some RB Motion rod ends. So Stay Tuned.... B)

Brad... Thank you. It was great to make some progress on something else on this build... LOL. I am actually looking forward to what I will be working on today. I am debating if I should make a run to Hobby Depot when they open up. I need to see in my supplies if I "Need" anything for what I am working on today... haha

Bob... Thank you. You are right sleep is overratted... lol. I will be working on this pretty much most of the day I hope.

Great work Chris, I do agree Mark's stuff is killer. So glad to see you back at this. Someday I hope to be a big boy builder like you, Dave.Tim, John, Clay and all the other great builders on this site. Keep moving forward, we are all watching. Will call this weekend sometime.

I never would have thought of even checking the clutch can for the right shape, not to mention the genius way you corrected it.

A treat for the eyes and brainpan at the same time.
