Eric C Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Here's my latest completed model. It's Revell's Corvette ZR1. Built moslty out of the box other than the wheels and tires. Those are Fujimi OZ's. Painted Tamiya ts-14 Black with Tamiya clear then polished. The interior is two-tone red and black. I chose to paint the brake calipers and engine details red instead of the blue that's used on the real car. Anyway, thanks for looking.
wontonkiller Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 very nice !! wow what shine !! Like the OZ wheels
Trae Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Nicely done! Looks great in black, and I kinda like the wheels.
Kanedge Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Stunning job and the wheels suit it perfectly. Sweet work.
Zoom Zoom Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Looks pretty sweet The black paint looks perfect.
Scale-Master Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Looks like you addressed and corrected the stance issue many of these I have seen built exhibit. Nice job!
Foxer Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 This looks good! I'm surprised the edges of the hood clear glass don't look 3" thick.
Albert Moore Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Absolutely beautiful job on the finish. That has to be one of the nicest all black paint jobs I've seen on a model anywhere. Cheers, Albert
Eric C Posted April 27, 2011 Author Posted April 27, 2011 (edited) Thanks everybody.... Did I ever mention how much I hate polishing out black paint? Edited April 27, 2011 by Eric C
jeff ewaskey Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 That is one beautiful Vette! Black paint looks terrific and your choice to use red accents instead of blue works great with the black. Great job!!!!!
David@MinidreamsInc. Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 VERY NICE PAINT ! Black is my worst enemy in modeling !
Terry Sumner Posted April 28, 2011 Posted April 28, 2011 Thanks everybody.... Did I ever mention how much I hate polishing out black paint? That was going to be my comment....I bet you had some time invested in polishing that paint out! How did you polish it? Did you use the polishing cloths from 3200 thru 12,000?
Eric C Posted April 28, 2011 Author Posted April 28, 2011 That was going to be my comment....I bet you had some time invested in polishing that paint out! How did you polish it? Did you use the polishing cloths from 3200 thru 12,000? I got pretty lucky on the intial paint job with a smooth finish and minimul dust. So I ended up using an old and worn out 3600 cloth on a couple dust specs then a 4000 and 6000 on those same spots. After that it was all three grades (coarse, fine, finish) tamiya rubbing compounds over the entire surface. Last step was Tamiya liquid wax to clean my finger prints off the paint once the build was complete.
LOBBS Posted April 29, 2011 Posted April 29, 2011 That's tasty! The Fujimi wheels look so much better than the kit's.
