Darin Bastedo Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Please stop with the "My hobby shop got their copy before me" threads. I have posted the reason for this probably a dozen times. It don't work that way. You get six guys in your zip code drop zone to subscribe, you will be the first to get it. if not, yell at the post office's rules and regulations. Sorry, I always get a little off the handle with this topic that comes up every time. We don't print 100,000 copies and don't have the demographics that allows the big mags to reach everyone at the same time. It's the post office, and of course, the lack of subscribers in your area. Sorry, I pau.... And don't get me started on Canada/overseas subs...... My motor treand subscriber copy gets to me about a week after it shows up on the news stand If Motor tread can't get to me first what makes anybody think that it will happen with Model Cars? Geez!

PatRedmond Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 My LHS won't carry it. He won't buy the minimum quantities. Gotta wait until i'm in Michigan.
Craig Irwin Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 I'm off to my LHS to get my nice clean, un-folded, spindled and mutilated copy .
Harry P. Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 I just got an issue a couple weeks ago, with the 1/12 sprint car on the cover. I assume this must have been 160. Each issue has the issue number on the cover right below the word "Model" in the logo.
hvymtl Posted September 10, 2011 Posted September 10, 2011 My Issues come to my parents house so i got mine the other night when my father brought out Mom's Trailblazer to double check the brake job i did .. that went fast so i get to the throne to read .And i too saw the misspelling too but i wasn't so sure Michael .
Tom Setzer Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Issue 161 has some great Info in it as always! I have posted in a seperate Thread, my reaction to the Article on Norm's Great R&MoM co. . The Tips on Sparke Plugs alone makes this a Great issue for many Modelers! CHEERS! Tom
RodneyBad Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Picked mine up today.. WOW!!! Another Home Run Issue.. Thanks to all who are involved...
Gregg Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 I guess my post could read as a complaint but it was meant as an observation - sorry if it wrankled a bit. I can well understand the logistics of getting a low-volume publication to far flung places like Switzerland. The fact is I'd never noticed before that MCM arrived late and it doesn't/won't bother me in the slightest. It's not like it's a newspaper that's worthless the next day. On the contrary, I collect and treasure every copy - the quality, particularly of the photography and design (but even the grade of paper) outclasses anything else I get in the mail. Peter, this issue was brought up before, for overseas subscriptions, but would you like to be able to see MCM in digital format? I was thinking about this only for now as an extra for foreign subs, because the cost of shipping it is so high. I don't want to get into the digital version yet with the U.S. market, that's something I am working on now. But for overseas, I don't think it's fair that they have to wait so long, and pay so much. Input from our overseas friends only please...
Jeff Johnston Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 I don't care if mine comes a month after everyone else. Whenever it gets here I'll read it cover to cover, as I always do. I tend to get mine after everyone else, but that's OK by me. I was excited to see Mark put my junker Falcon in the resin column last month...and a big pic too ! Plus,,, I got a resin Starliner convertible for it too! Ya just can't beat that folks !!! I get both magazines, as I am sure most of us do, and I very much enjoy them both...but MCM really is a step above, and I'm not just saying that because I'm here. It really is the better publication by far, IMHO.
Danno Posted September 11, 2011 Author Posted September 11, 2011 Input from our overseas friends only please... Isn't everybody overseas from you?
peekay Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Peter, this issue was brought up before, for overseas subscriptions, but would you like to be able to see MCM in digital format? Personally, not really. I like the feel and look of a quality magazine and can't get nearly as friendly with a laptop. (Mind you I'm 61). The cost doesn't strike me as prohibitive. German model mags don't cost significantly less (and anyway don't have the US-car bias I need). My financial situation will force me to drop a subscrition or two next year but I'll renew MCM - because it's beautifully done. That makes it good value, even in Europe. As for the lateness, like I said, I never even noticed before this thread.
Gregg Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Isn't everybody overseas from you? Oh you are just so funny I'm laughing so hard right now Ha Ha Ha.. You do make me laugh my friend..

Chuck Most Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 The write-up on Replicas and Miniatures was awesome- he's one of those casters I'm truly ashamed I don't buy more from. Bill and Len's Darts were killer. And the Chrysler sketchpad article was sweet, even though I'm not a huge fan of bubbletop designs. I'm still thumbing through Tim Boyd's trailer article- that one's giving me all sorts of ideas!
crazyjim Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Looks like you & me will almost the last people to get #161, Dr. Cranky.
Foxer Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 It's a no show here either, but should be today or tomorrow if all on normal schedule.
crazyjim Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 The mailman just dropped off #161 in pristine condition. Sadly, I don't have time to read it right now because it's build time.
Dr. Cranky Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Woo-Hoo, 161 is in DA HOUSE! Beautiful. Love the Tim Boyd Trailer article. Lots of eye candy in this issue. Thanks, Harry, Gregg, et al!
peter31a Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 September 15th and I'm still waiting for issue 160. I was in a hobby store on Monday but only looked at the cover as didn't want to spoil it for when my own mag gets here. When it comes to magazines Canada Post defines the words SNAIL MAIL! Thanks for letting me vent. We now return you to your regularly scheduled forum...
