Dominik Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Hallo everybody, today i want to show you my "project-built 2010". This is one of my favorite scratchbuilds and detailwork. take a look at the team and have fun: ...
Dominik Posted September 23, 2011 Author Posted September 23, 2011 ... i had much fun to build all the cars and stuff. scratchbuild are the Racerswedge, lifting platform, grill, powersupplies, the bed of the Cameo and the trailer. thanks for watching, comments welcome
Scalper Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Man that is awesome . you even have a U-haul in there. Well placed together . you put the old tamiya catalogs to shame.
GTMust Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Excellent.... a pleasure to see.... thanks for posting it. Tony
crazyjim Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Fantastic details. I'm going back to look again and again.
Wayne Buck Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Dominik, I don't now what else to say, except... This is a TRULY AWESOME dio! GREAT job! Thanks for sharing with us!!
Raykreations Posted September 24, 2011 Posted September 24, 2011 You can almost imagine the guys bantering back-and-forth. Seems like I always see figures in dioramas with an odd sheen on them, but these are very realistic - GREAT JOB!
Dominik Posted September 25, 2011 Author Posted September 25, 2011 Thank you very much for your comments! Its a honor for me. If it is allowed, i will show you some details from the vehicles. The scooter - i have made the steering working, completed with mirors, handles for brake and clutch, antenna and radioequipment, brakeline, helmet, sunglasses and keychain: The cameo servicewagon - all in, what you need. Most out of the tamiyakit, scratchbuilt workbanch, mold, belts, lamps: The bumper is to pick up the scooter Some stuff on the table - scratchbuilt radio, tins, empty glass and (of course) you can flat fold this table Wait for my favorite - the wedge...
crazyjim Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 Unreal Dominik. I can't believe all the little details. I keep going back to look and it seems there's always something else I find and start drooling all over my keyboard - again and again.
Dominik Posted September 25, 2011 Author Posted September 25, 2011 (edited) Thank you Jim! I know what you mean. If i look on this own work, i always have a smile in my face and wonder about the work...from time to time, i can't belive, that i had built it. Just looking as a little child. her we go a look on the oilbarrel, toolbox, traffic cone, tow rod you can pull out the vice... ...and rotate him also a better look on the winch: a look inside the cabine: Now i must search for pictures of the u-haul trailer. Edited September 25, 2011 by Dominik
crazyjim Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 STOP! You're killin' me here, Dominik. But I love seeing your pics. Wonderful work.
Wagoneer81 Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 THis is one of the most awesome things I've seen in a long time! Keep posting pics, I want to see more! I love the little details...
Dominik Posted September 26, 2011 Author Posted September 26, 2011 @Jim: watch out for your health! O.k., thank you Chris. I searched some pics of the u-haul trailer. it is scratchbuild "from roof to wheel". Some pics from progress, i took a cartrailer as a sample for the frame... befor decal work Ready
Dominik Posted September 26, 2011 Author Posted September 26, 2011 At last, some pictures from the stuff, that makes racingwork easier. The scooter's scratchmade helmet, keychain... chill-out-area: scratchmade BBQ-grill without beef and sausages (the meat i made after fotoshooting) at last a overview from all the stuff: Thanks for watching!
gasser59 Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Too cool Dominik. Love all of the details. This really takes some studying to see everything. I may 'borrow' a few for my vintage travel trailer and tow vehicle. Hope you don't mind.
Chuck Most Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Especially like the race car... you don't often see a '66 Merc done up in race trim.
charlie8575 Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Well! Especially nice work on the U-Haul trailer and that barbecue. I also like that scooter and all its little details. Very nice overall. Charlie Larkin
Dominik Posted October 1, 2011 Author Posted October 1, 2011 Thank you very much for kind words! Brad, sure you can make that. This is, what a forum living for: to give and take impressions Today i want to show you some pictures from the progress. I will start with the Racerswedge. I think, this kit from amt / Model king... ...knows everybody. For the cabin and "backwards"frame, i took this Snapkit: For the engine and the front frame i took a '59 Cadillac Eldorado. the best point of it was, that it all fit together, like it always was so planed! The next idea is to build a "cabover"... ...and here are the outter panels for it: All these parts i glued together...
Dominik Posted October 1, 2011 Author Posted October 1, 2011 so here we go! The next step - it will give a picture: Here i had build the rearaxles from the wedge. I took a part of a frame from a Ford F100 and axles out of may parts box from leftover kitparts: Now my favorite fitting. Install the engine and front frame from the cadillac. Here you can see the grey frame i took from it and how i fit into the snap kit... ...and how it fit, when i mounted the body: This was "easy" work! Thats it, what make a lot of fun, if all will fit together.
Dominik Posted October 1, 2011 Author Posted October 1, 2011 On the net picture you can see an overview. all modeled in orange is the snap kit, in grey is from the cadillac and the white parts is scratchbuild (without the wedge!) Next step. Made some detailwork like the doors, interieur and the first primer: ...the parts for my ashtray ...and the interieur ready: ...
Dominik Posted October 1, 2011 Author Posted October 1, 2011 So far, so good. the paintjob, similar with the 66 Merc: the engineparts ready painted: some small parts to decorate the wedge: and at last with the body work done. there i tryed to make decals the first time: Thats it. That was, what i want to show you. perhaps, this posts where better in "on the workbanch"? But this progress was one year ago and is not in time... The last steps was to make a front bumper and exhaust system. Thanks for patience,
crazyjim Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 I can't believe the details, Dominik. Even butts and ashes.
David G. Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 What is there to say that hasn't been said? Excellent work, lovely detail! David G.
