OKAY. The new Hudson's out. What are your plans for it ?

Everyone's abuz on the new Hudson. What are your plans? Some one said a mild custom. That sounds pretty good but thinking back, I don't remember ever seeing one that wasn't just plan ol stock (boring). The different racing, Grand National and drag racing versions seem like they'd be interesting too.

Then, when my ModelKing versions arrive, I'll be doing a Tim Flock, a Marshall Teague, and a vintage Pikes Peak Stock Class hillclimber ...

I don't have any plans for one. Of all the cars that could have been kitted, why a Hudson. Most ppl (95%) never even knew they existed till the movie Cars came out and still have never seen one. I'm old enough to have seen and been a passenger in one. They were unique in that they were the first to have a step down floor and they ruled the early races at Daytona in the sand. As for them being custom or hot rod material, I'm sorry but they weren't. I'm sure they are well kitted and detailed from what I can see but for the price, I'm afraid the only way I'll ever have one is if someone gives me one and that's not likely to happen. I would rather have seen a decent Henry J or an early Kiaser or a 38 Dodge or Plymouth. Now I know there's going to be a lot of ppl that disagree with me but try to find a customized Hudson. lol.

Not a kit option, but ... in those days, Pikes Peak Stock Class consisted of truly stock cars. You could literally drive one on the street, as they were virtually production cars albeit slightly modified. The ModelKing kit will be a great starting point ... just build it ala NASCAR and slap some vintage USAC decals on it instead of NASCAR decals ... then some custom sponsor and driver markings and you're done.

For me thats the beauty of it. It's so very different. This is what I love as an artist. If it's been done................I'm not interested in building it, so give me different every time. For crying out loud, the only 57 Chevy that I have ever built is a 4x4 death machine. And very soon, you will see more customized Hudsons than you can shake a stick at.

As for me, I'll wait until the 48 Ford is released and buy them together. And like the Revell 49 Merc, it will sit on my shelf for a few years until an idea pops into my head. And it WILL be unique.

I have one in the mail right now, but I'll just be massaging the parts for now with the good stuff later ... if I ever get around to it.

At this point, I don't know how I'll build it ... no one I knew had one. I just thank Moebius for giving me (us) the option.
