RancheroSteve Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 I clipped this photo out of Road & Track many years ago as a kid and I suppose for that reason it's always been the iconic Cheetah for me. Many years later, using the MiniExotics resin kit, MCW paint and VRM decals, I was able to build a reasonable replica. More details about the build in the "Workbench" section. Thanks for looking.
Dr. Cranky Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Wonderful model, and the paint is nice and shiny!
bigmikevee Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Hey Steve, This is just great, brings back memories for me too. I had a slot car set when I was a kid and I had this exact car, was the coolest thing I had ever seen on four wheels. Don't know much about the 1:1 but I know you build is just awesome, you did a great job!! Thanks for posting and thanks for the memories. Mike
jeffs396 Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 I loved these as a kid too Steve! I saw one in Super Chevy magazine many years ago, saw the tranny hooked directly to the rear axle and thought, how cool is that? Great build!
weasel Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 oooooohhh.... i love Cheetah's...built the same kit, mines yella...you put a motor in yours, nice... dood...i have extra 'Cheetahs always win' decals i can send ya if ya want...go perfect below the Pure decal...
ChrisR Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Very nice model, MiniExotics are not the easiets models to build.
Draggon Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 I love seeing any Cheetahs built and yours is fantastic!
randx0 Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 The cheetah has to be one of the coolest looking race cars ever! yours looks great .
Art Laski Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Very nice! It turned out great. I love the old road racers.
Draggon Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Too bad the real one did not match its looks with performance. If it went as good as it looks it would have been unbeatable. As Ive read it, it was a horrible monster to drive, and the cockpit heat was intolerable. But it looks just so darn awesome!
Bernard Kron Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Lovely build! Really evokes the 1:1. The 1:1 was on my short list of desirable cars as a kid, and now the model is on my short list of must-get-to's...
