Joe Handley Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 I saw this a couple weeks ago and wasn't sure if I was actually seeing that right. It appears to be a new Nissan Murano 2dr convertible.......when did that happen
Darren B Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 (edited) Wow, and havent even seen tv ads for it either, usaully they advertise before it comes out and I havent seen anything, however just in my personal opinion, its very ugly so they should have not wasted their time but thats just me.,.........................Did it have a license plate on it or just a temp sticker? May be it just hit the dealer ships but a license plate means at least been on the road close to a few weeks to a month or later... Edited December 30, 2011 by Darren B
Joe Handley Posted December 30, 2011 Author Posted December 30, 2011 (edited) It had a religious sounding vanity plate on it so it had to have been in the driver's hands for a while now (at least 1 month or two by my guess). I don't normally like posting license plates on line, be it mine or not, so I took measures to distort it using the photo edit feature on the phone I shot the pics with. I normally don't care much for the Murano, I've always thought they were ugly from the name's introdution, but this just made it seem worse One thing that is funny though, I think when the top is up, it's at tall as my unlifted Jeep Cherokee, but with less ground clearance than the Jeep is Edited December 30, 2011 by Joe Handley
RodneyBad Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 It probably looks better with the top down. With the top up, it don't look soo good..
Joe Handley Posted December 30, 2011 Author Posted December 30, 2011 I don't know Rodney, considering they don't look good with a roof and 4 doors, I can't imagine getting rid of the roof and two doors helps things any.

I find it to be an Interesting car.. Kind've like watching a train wreck.. Wouldn't own one tho.
slantasaurus Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 The better question is WHY did this happen.....
Joe Handley Posted December 30, 2011 Author Posted December 30, 2011 The better question is WHY did this happen..... That Ron, would be my next question, but you may want to keep an eye out for it next time you're out my way, that McDonalds is right between the old and new locations of my store
A.R.C. Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Somewhere in this world I hope a car designer is standing in the unemployment line.
Lownslow Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 came out around the late fall, nissans attempt at stealing upscale jeep buyers.
martinfan5 Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Better question is what was the person thinking when he bought it , Well I bet its easy to find in a parking lot
1zebra3 Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 That looks like something I left in the toilet at McDs.
Joe Handley Posted December 30, 2011 Author Posted December 30, 2011 Wow, that is honestly the first time black convertible model looks worse than the 4dr....especially with the top down!
slantasaurus Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 (edited) You do have to consider that this IS Nissan we're talking about. Look across the rest of their offerings, the Cube (did they tell the stylests that curves were a bad thing ???), the Juke (makes the Aztek owners feel better)......just looked at Nissan's website so I could remember what else they are making right now. The rest of the line up isn't the best looking but doesn't come close to those 3...........Then I noticed something, the regular roofed, 4 dr Murano has a starting price of $29290...the Murano Cross Cabriolet starts at $44540 !!!!! http://www.nissanusa.com/buildyournissan/modelLine/index Edited December 30, 2011 by slantasaurus
Chuck Most Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 This one's made quite a few lists of 'Worst Automotive Ideas of 2011'. Does a market for a convertible luxury SUV exist? I guess we'll see.
kenb Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 A good personal friend of mines son works for Nissan as a field rep. We were talking about this vehicle over the Christmas holiday. He said that there are a rash of problems with the top. Not latching and not closing all the way. Coming into the dealer with inside weather damage. Similar to the problems I had at Chrysler with the later Sebring drop top. Told his dad to stay away from it. Personally I don't like the looks of it. Maybe a good Florida top down all the time vehicle, but not my money. Ken
Patrick2005 Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 At first I thought it was just a vinyl top but it is a true convertible, either way with full, half, or no roof it's still pretty...................................ugly
W-409 Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Well, I thought, it is Lamborghini Murano, but it was Nissan... Well, it looks typical new car, like egg with wheels.
george 53 Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 WHY does it have a split upper lower back window? I guess they're tryin to stay in step with it's weirdness. Still an ugly whatever. Marano in spanish mean Pig. Maybe NOT quite the same word, but surely the same meaning.
Rob Hall Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 (edited) It was in the magazines and Autoblog/etc maybe 6-8 months ago or more... I've seen them on the lot at the local Nissan store since summer. Nissan has been doing a lot of 'different' designs in recent years...this, the Leaf, Juke, etc... Edited December 30, 2011 by Rob Hall
58 Impala Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 An SUV crossover convertible, whats the point? It's pretty ugly, though not quite as ugly as the Juke.
Jon Cole Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Nissan just keeps the ugly coming. Agree, the Cube, and the Juke are classic Nissan. When you see what the manufacturers from the Orient are displaying at the Tokyo Motor Show, this is no surprise. And what's up with that new large van with the BIG snout?
